to cook brealkfast. 1 heard the
train and looked out to see wheth-
er it was a freight train. As I
watched the crossing, I saw the
car coming. It was going 'way
too fast. The train hit it dead
centre.
"When I ran to see what I could
do, I saw a man's arm lying near-
by. Then I saw other parts" of the
(body. Then the passengers, rush-
ed out, rand the residents 'came up
\.to help. It was a nightmare in
broad daylight."
The continental train rammed
the car "dead centre" on the right
side and carried the vehicle along
the tracks for a quarter of a mile.
Baranyai fell out of the car and
his holy was badly mutilated.
Gazdag and Furstenzeller were
crushed inside the auto.
A tow truck operator said there
was hardly anything left of the
car .looetAr away.
Trio Had Only $6.12
Police said that there had been
come groceries in the car. The
cum of $6.12 was found in Gazdag's
pcket. This was apparently all
the money they had.
Julius Kovacs, of Goderich, who
frequently acts as an interpreter,
went to Barrie Saturday evening
to identify the bodies.
When Mrs. Gazdag learned of
her husband's death, she became
hysterical and ran out of her home
on St. Patrick's street. Crying, she
went through the streets to the
local immigration office. Later,
she was taken to hospital and giv-
en a sedative. Another of the
survivors, unstrung by the news,
was also taken to the hospital.
Gyorgy Baranyai, a native of
Budapest, Hungary, arrived, in
Goderich on April 5. A laborer,
he had had occasional employment
here He is survived by his wife,
Maria, 20, and a son, Gyorgy, 11
months old. Mrs. Baranyei is ex -

Lajos Gazdag, a moulder by
trade, was born in Roumania. He
arriv.y.+, in Goderich on May 13 and
was employed atQaderich Manu-

a position as a moulder at the
Western Fouhdry iaa Wingham. He
later quit this job.
F -,Besides his widow, Katalin, 32,
Mr. Gazdag is survived by four
children: (Lajos, 12; Katalin, 9;
Myaria, 8, and Erzebet, 4.
The third victim, Istvan Fursten-
zeller, apparently has no close rela-
tives in Canada. He arrived here
on April 2 and was later placed
as a hired hand on the farm of
K. Czeiniawski, of R.R. 3, Wing -
ham. He had some training as a
mechanic, having attended a trade
school.
Searched Fr Jobs
A friend of the three victims
said he 'believes that they had
made a trip to Sault Ste. Marie,
Delhi . and other places to search
for work about a week before the
accident. He believes they secur-
ed jobs in the Barrie area and
were to start to work on the morn-
ing of the fatal accident.
"The car, registered in Mrs.
Czimbaimos' name, was put•chased
around six weeks ago. A short
time ago, Mr. Baranyai obtained a
license to drive. He had been
cautioned by friends to be careful
with the car, and --like the others
—had been advised to remain in
the area where he had been placed
by the immigration department.
Pallbearers for the funeral of
the three victims included T.

Air Force Band
Thrills Crowd
People who appreciate band
music—and almost everyone does
—were treated to an outstanding
concert whm the RCAF Training
Command Band played in Court
House Park here last Thursday
evening.
Rain had been threatening all
evening but it held off until the
band started to •play "God -Save
the Queen." The concert went the
full hour and 10 minutes as sche-
duled.
The band,. which displayed super-
ior tone and general excellence,
was under the direction of Flight
Lieutenant Clifford 0. Hunt.
As the program opened, Coun-
cillor C. M. Robertscu greeted the
many citizens and visitors who
gathered at Court House Park for
the concert. The band's 56 players
were arranged in front of the
court house.
Afterwards, there was a social
gathering at which the air force
bandsmen compared notes with
members of Goderich Blue Water
Band, which sponsored the concert.

Effect On Town?
Aside from the question of when
the project is to start, Deputy -
Reeve Donnelly said it might be
wise for a Goderich delegation to
see the minister anyway before
final plans are set, because the
exact location of the new bridge
could have quite an important ef-
fect on the town. '
Councillor C. M. Robertson said
that officials of neighboring town-
ships have been waiting for at
least twp months for Goderich to
call a delegation together to visit
Queen's Park.
It was finally decided by Council
that if a satisfactory answer as to
starting date is not received from
Highways Minister Allan shortly,
the ree4e- and the deputy -reeve will
arrange a delegation to see him.
