the Blue Water Sport Car Club
Time 'Trials.
A track, one and a half miles in
length, was measured off on which
the cars competed. There were
various divisions, two of which
were won by cars ,from Port Huron
,while another division was won
by a ear from Flint, Michigan,
Cars were also present from De-
troit, Sarnia, ancl one or two were
from Goderieh. The cars will re-
turn to Port Albert some time in
August for another suoh meet.
A crowd of more than 200 spec-
tators watched the meet. Even
two private airplanes landed to
see what the fuss was all about
but were told to move on so as
to allow a clear track for the
speeding cars.

SAY FIREMEN SLEEPING
ON plESEL LOCOMOTIVES
OTTAWX.--Instances of firemen
sleeping on Diesel locomotives
were described by a union witness
as "not common, but hot uncom-
mon" in testimony given before
the Royal Commission investigating
the CPR's proposed removal of
firemen from road freight and yard
service.
1. A. Stewart, of Toronto, a CPR
engineer and officer of the Brother-
hood of Locometive Firemen and
Engineman agreed in cross-exam-
ination that the Canadian Pacific
had experienced more trouble with
firemen sleeping on duty after
Diesel locomotives were put into
service.
Mr. Stewart declared that fire-
men were "definitely of assistance"
as lookouts on yard Diesels and
told of incidents in which he con-
tended the warning of a fireman
had possibly prevented accidents.
However, he agreed in cross-exam-
ination that ground crews,- if ob-
serving railway operating regula-
tions, would have insured safe
operation.
