Then check these five steps toward hyme ownership. You'll find them helpful: 1. Select .Your Site It's wise to decide first of all where you're going to live — the community and the site itself. The site will influence many decisions about the house—even its dimen- sions and room layout. You may want a plan that takes advantage of a particular view, exposure, slope, or the location of trees. a) Zoned for residential build- in•g only? Decide On A Plan Now is the time to visit your 0 0 building products dealer. If yours is to be a custommbuilt house, he can refer you to an architect who specializes in home design. Building The Home After the financing is arranged, you are ready to begin construc- tion. He'll save you worry, expense, and... mistakes. (a) Before excavating is started, -instruct your contractor to remove top soil that is Iikely to be covered over in final grading, and pile it to one side of the lot, to -he spread later over filled area (1b) Check with your contractor frequently to see that con- struction is +progressing ac- cording to schedule.
