W.M.S. and-W.A. ,. herd their regular
meetings last Wednesday after-
noon in the church 'insentient, tvith
a splendid attendance.
The devotional part of the VMS
meeting was red by the president,
Mrs. J5. Stewart, and Mrs. H. Baer,
Thismonth's chapter of the study
hook, dealing with the work of
various missionaries in Korea was
ably given by 'Mrs. B. Straughan,
Mrs. F. McMichael and Mrs." Stew-
art. Reports were given on "Clem-
munity Friendship" by Mrs. F.
Mitchell, "Christian Stewardship"
by M'rs, QVl. Durst, and the supply
convener, Miss A. Batter. The
WIMS will have a Valentine shower
for their special missionary, Miss
Dearing, of Northern Ontario.
Mrs. Norma.., Hazlitt, president,
was in charge o the W.A. meeting.
The minutes of the last meeting,
and the correspondence were read
by the secretary, Mrs. G. Young.
Roll call was answered with a cash
donation to be used for new kit-
chen supplies, and Mrs. F. Alain
was appointed to purchase these.
Mrs. F. Mitchel, treasurer, gave
the monthly financial report. Mrs.
A. Maskell represented the W.A.
at the last .meeting of the Cancer
Society held in Gaderich. It was
decided that the W.A. will con-
tribute to theCancer Fund again
this year.
Mrs. Ralph Jewel reported that
arrangements were completed for
the W.A.'s annual dinner which
will he held on February 12th, in
Goderich.
At the conclusion of the busi-
ness period the Mizpah benediction.
was pronounced and a social half
hour enjoyed. -_

Mr. Watson was ins.ructed to re-
turn the tax roll eto the treasurer
by February 28, as amended in
sub -section 1 of Section 120 of The
Assessment Act, instead of April
30 as formerly.

At "FIRE" Meeting
Six local elergynnen were guests
at the annual "FM" meeting of
Goderich Junior Chamber of Com-
merce. The initial, it was ex-
plained, stand for "Faith In Re-
ligious Exercise."
Rev. A. E. Eustace, of 'North
Street United Church, spoke on
the Church and community weI-
fare, emphasizing that religion
must be woven into the pattern of
everyone's life.
Other ministers in attendance
were Rev. R. G. MacMillan, of
Knox Presbyterian Church; Rev.
S. H. Findlay, of Goderich Baptist
Church; Rev. S. A. Moote, of Vic-
toria Street United. Church; Lieut.
Roger Southbloom, of the Salvation
Army, and R. J. Green, pastor of
Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle.
Winners in the Jaycees' Christ-
mas lighting contest were also in-
vited to the dinner meeting, and
awards were presented. Bud
Mathieson received the award for
the best entry in the house decor-
ation division, and Scotty Wood
was awarded the prize for the
best service station display. Vic
Crane, on behalf of MacDonald
Electrics accepted -the award for
the best retail display.
To fill out the Jaycee executive,
three members were voted into yellow net ballerina length with

Marie Glenn, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. George Glenn, Goderich, and

Rev. S. A. Moote performed the
Ceremony.
The 'bride, given in marriage by
her father, was lovely in a tbailer-
ina-length gown of nylon net over
taffeta. Diamond-shaped Chantilly
lace medallions with ru i;:ed edges
detailed the skirt. The bodice was
of Chantilly lace and the matching
jacket had three-quarter length
sleeves. Her finger-tip veil of .tulle
illusion fell from a shirred net cap
studded with rhinestones and she
carried a white Bible topped with
red roses. She wore a pearl neck-
lace, the gift of the groom.
Mrs. Laird Schillbe, Goderich,
sister of the 'bride, was matron
of honor. She wore a ballerina -
length gown of pale pink net with
matching hat and carried a bouquet,
of blue, mums. Another sister of
the bride, Mrs. Jim Graham, of
Goderich, was ,bridesmaid, wearing
a ballerina -length dress of pale
turquoise net with matching hat
and carried a bouquet of pink
mums. Miss Bonnie Glenn, Gode-
rich, niece of the bride, was junior
bridesmaid. She was gowned in
office at the meeting. Ford Little matching hat and carried a bou-
quet of blue mums.
Mr. Howard White, Goderich,
was groomsman for his brother
and Mr. Gordon Gilbert, brother-
in-law of the groom, and Mr. Wil-
fred Glenn, brother of the bride,
ushered. Mr. Frank Bissett pre-
sided at the organ.
At the reception at the home
of -the -bride --the - bride's- mother
wore a grey figured magic crepe
ensemble. The groom's " mother
assisted in a gown of charcoal
shot taffeta.
For her wedding trip to the
United States, Mrs. White wore a
pink and gold figured nylon dress
and a black and white tweed coat
with pink accessories. On their
return they will reside 'in Van-
couver, B.C.
Guests were present from Lon-
don, Preston, Mount BTydges and
Bayfield.

THE NURSERY
Furnishing the nursery in the
new wing of Alexandra Marine and
General Hospital at a cost of ap-
proximately $5,000 will be an ob-
jective of the. Lions Club, it was
decided at their meeting at the
Bedford Hotel last Friday evening.
Leo „ Walzak was chairman for
past presidents' night with 12 past
presidents present including the
first president of the club, R. C.
Hays.
Five new members were intro-
duced to the club: 'Cliff Lowery,
Bob Fitch, John Leitch, Charles
Tyndall and Ivan Cook.

SUN LIFE'S NEW HIGH
- MONTREAL{, Feb. '12.—The Sun
Life of Canada sold $854 million
of life insurance last year --largest
amount in the Company's history
and the largest amoumt ever sold -
by any Canadian company in a
single year. George W. Bourke,
Sun Life President, today announc-
ed the new record to holders of the
Company's two million policies and
Group certificates, and stated th
total life insurance in force has
now passed $7 billion, also an all-
time high for a Canadian company.
The new ,business during 1956 was
an increase of almost $100 million
over the figure reported by the
Company for 1955, which at that
time also was a new Canadian
record.

Kintail W.I. On Her 90th Birthday

February meeting of the Kiln
takil Women's Institute was
held at the home of Mrs. Ray
Dalton with a large attendance.
The roll call was Answered by
a verse from an old reader
which took many ,members
back in ,memories to olal school
days.
It was decided to send $5.00
to the mental health program.
Since it was the 90th birth-
day of Mrs. Dalton's mother,
Mrs. D. Reynolds, the program
had a birthday spirit. Mrs.

Aids New library
The February meeting of St.
Peter's Parent Teacher's Associa-
tion was 'held in the St. Peter's
School with an attendance of 32.
The resignation of Mrs. Wm.
Dean was accepted with much
regret.
The sum of $50 was voted to buy
books for a new library to 'be start-
ed for the fourth class room'tvhich,
was opened this year.
Mr. A. Wisser gave a short talk
on "Cancer" and an interesting film
was shown on that subject. A
social half hour followed the ad-
journment.
Credit Union
The annual meeting of St. Peter's
Parish Credit Union was held Feb-
ruary 7, in St Peter's School.
Mr. L.( Pitblado, president, re-
ported a successful year. A divid-
end of four percent was declared.
The following officers were ap-

secretary -treasurer, Mrs. John H.
Simpson; directors, L. Jeffrey, E.

OBITUARY
GARFIELD MCCULLOUGH
Garfield McCullough, a former
resident of Goderich, died at his
home in Darlington, Maryland, on
January 23. Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. R. David Steele
in Bailey's funeral home in -Dar-
lington on January 27 at 2 p.m.
Interment was in Dublin cemetery.
Bern in Goderich Township an
March 9, 189+3, he 'was the son of
Simon McCullough and Mrs. Mc-
Cullough, who was the former
Elizabeth McConnell.
Besides his widow, the former
Evelyn Stoggins, Garfield McCul-
lough is survived by a daughter,
Mrs. Doris Messick; a son, Donald
McCullough, otf Conowingo, . and
three grandchildren. Also surviv-
ing are three Sisters, Mrs. Frank
Willis, of Port Aubert; Mrs. William
Faller, of (oddei:kch Township, 444
