Mr. Alfred Neshiet is critically
ill in Seaforth hospital where he
was taken by ambulance last Thurs-
day. He arrived home from Lon-
don thc-'day pfore but was strick-
en ill again uring the night.
Mrs. John Hallam. has returned
home from the Goderieh hospital
where she was convalescing from
injuries received New Year's Day
in a ear accident.

Mrs.Gordan Mcrlinchey and her
mother, Mrs. William Anderson,
returned last week -end from their
trip to Western Canada.
Skating Runk. --The children of
this district are enjoying the plea-
sure of skating in the new rink
which was made in the United
Church sired.
Mrs. Frank Raithby was a pat-
ient last week in Clinton hospital.
Norman H. Mcarien. — Friends
and relatives learned last week
of the death of Norman H. Mc -
.Brien, of Detroit. 14e—was born
at Auburn; 59 years ago, son of
Henry McBrien and Annie Govier
who lived in the Maitland Block,
later moving to the hotel in
Auburn. In 1905 the late Mr.
McBpien moved to. Detroit and
in 1915 he went to work for the
Detroit News. His first job was
on street sales, then district man-
ager and at the time of his death
was division manager in the ciroul-
a'tion department. lle.was a gra•du- ;
ate of Eastern High Schaal. Sur-
viving besides his wifc are three
sons, Norman H., jr., Donald and
Richard, a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn
Dane, and a sister, Mrs. Mae .

Mrs. Clarence Cox.—This com-
munity was saddened on Thursday,'
January 3, to., learn that Mrs.
ClarEnoe-'Cox had pas. -ed away in
Clinton hospital. Although in
poor, health for some time, she
had been `hospitalized only a fern,

marriage, Olive Jane Patterson,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Patterson, of the 13th of
Hullett. In 1913 she w7s married to
Clarence Cox and lig d in 11ulIe t ,

Alex Manning (Mary) of Blyth;
two brothers, Nelson Patterson, of
East Wawanosh, and Ernea..-Patter-
son of Goderch. She was a mem-
ber of Knox Lnite.d t;hurch and
also a member of the Women's
;,Missionary Society, The funeral
,service was held on Ionday, -Janu-
ary 7, at the Ar. ur fu;;aral home
with Rev. Robert Hiltz officiating..
Interment was in Ball's cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews, Donald.
Sprung, William Patterson, Glen
Patterson, Rocs Patterson, William
Manning and John Manning.
Flowerbearers were: Jack Sprung,
Kenneth Patterson, Robert Arm-
strong and Thomas Anderson.
Friends acrd relatives were present
frOM Toronto, Goderich, Clinton
and other points.
Funeral serviees were held Mon-
day in Knox' United Church here
for the late Rev. Clarence C.
Washington who passed away din
Wingham Hospital on Friday,
January 4, 1957 tram injuries re-
ceived in a two -car crash near
Wroxeter on December 26- His
wife, who was also' injtired in th
same" accident is making a satis-
factory recovery but is still a
patient in the hospital. The Huron
Presbytery attended the funeral in
a body. Rev. P. -Renner, of Bay-.
field, officiated, assisted by Rev.
A. Eagle, Toronto, Rev. C. Daniels,
Hensall, Rev. H. C. Wilson, Chin -
ton, Rev. Moore, Knox 'United
Church, London, Rev. S. Davidson,
Brucefield and Rev. Green, St.
Helens. Rev. Moore gave an in-
spiring message. Temporary en-
tombment took place at the Clin-
ton mausoleum with burial taking
plate later in Bolton cemetery.
Pallbearerswere Rev. Glen Eagle,
Mr. R. D. Thomas, Rev, George
Watt, Rev. Harold Snell, Mr.
Charles Scott and Mr. R. Warnica.

Anderson, Norman McDowell, Bert

Mrs. Charles' Bell. — A farmer
Auburn resident, Mrs. Charles Bell,
passed away recently in Clinton
hospital in her 75th year. She had
been confined to bed tar- the past
three weeks and had been tender-
ly cared for by her daughter, Mrs.
Rey Doherty, at her home In Blyth
until just a few days before. her
death. Formerly Rose Ann Naylor,
she wasborn in East Wawanosh,
the rinu )hter of Fountain. Naylor
and Rose Ann Taylor. Itr 1906 she
married 'Charles Edgar Bell who

organizations. 'She is survived by
one daughter, Mrs. Roy Doherty,
of Blyth, a niece, Velma Naylor,.{
and a nephew, Nelson Naylor, who
had both made their home with
the Bell family; also one .grand-
daugthter, Margaret 'Ann, Doherty,
and one sister, (Julia) Mrs. John
Bailey, of Blyth. Funeral services
were held in the Blyth United
Church with Rev A. W. Watson
officiating. During the service,
