Air Cadet News
Because cadet activities are ceas-
ing for the holidays, this will be
the last report of 1956. In Decem-
ber, highlighting the cadet activ-
ities is the annual Christmas party.
This year, it will be held on De-
cember 15, at 'llaoKay Hall. The
conianittee.members under F./L. M.
Cutt and Wq.1 C. Town.send, are
Warning a varied program, includ-
in,g thins and other entertainment.
Also on the list is an expected
inspection of the squadron by the
commanding officer of Clinton
RCAF Station, Gee'. Cameron. It
is hoped that the local air cadets
will be able to go to that station
to enjey in Afternoon of sports
in the gym.
All local boys between the ages
of 14 and 18, who are not yet
members of the squadron, are re
minded of the opportunities to
come out on a Tuesday night and
see if they would like to become
air cadets.

BYRON, Dec. 1. ---St. Luke's -in -
the -Garden Church, decorated with
white 'mums and candelabra, was
the setting here this .afternoon for
the wedding of Hazel Hannah Mary
Wilmot and Joseph Norbert Paul
Smithers. The bride is the daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Fran-
cis Wilmot, London, and the groom,
of Ottawa and Meadow Lake, Sask-
atchewan, is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alfred Cecil Smithers. Miss
Wilmot attended Goderich District
Collegiate Institute and was for
some year on the staff of the
Goderich branch of the Royal Bank
of Canada.
The Rev. J. W. Clarke officiated
and George Black presided at the
organ. Soloist W d Miss Helen
V Wean , Goderich.
The bride wore a ballerina -
length gown of pure silk rice taf-
feta fashioned with bouffant skirt
of unpressed pleats and fitted
bodice featuring a bateau neckline
outlined with imported Alencon
lace and trimmed with seed pearls
and opalescents. A coronet at
Ceylon pearis and opalescents held
her ',Tench illusion veil and she
carried a bouquet of .write garden-
ias and trenched 'mie
As matron of honor, Mrs. Eliza-
beth Westbrook, of Goderich, wore
a ,ballerinalength princess gown
of peach satin. Miss Nancyanne
Wilmot, bridesmaid for her sister,
chose ballerina -length royal blue
taffeta. Identical hats with bands
of pearls and face veils, and nose-
gays of tawny gold roses completed
their ensembles.
William Tilden was .groomsman
and Kenneth WiVnot, brother of
the bride, and Albert LeBlanc
ushered.
Receiving guests, the bride's mo-
ther wore a charcoal and gold
taffeta dress with white Belgian fur
hat and • white carnation corsage.
Also present was the beide's grand-
father, Albert E. Wilmot, of
Windsor.
For the wedding trip, the bride
donned a charcoai grey suit with
grey and white accessories and
gardenia corsage. The couplewill
reside in London.

The Ladies' Aid Society of 'Knox
Church met in the church parlor
Friday.
The Scripture was read by Mrs.
W. Ritchie and Mrs. A. Alexander
lett in prayer. Mrs. A. Straiton
thanked the members for their
work and co-operation during the
year. The contest Ls closed and
Mrs. McAuley's group were the
winners.
Mrs. Clayton Edvvard, explained
and illustrated the Christmas
carols and Mrs. Peter 14ad:wan
gave a reminiscence of the'Ladies'
Aid"
from 1908-1918 when they
went to their picnics in band
wagons.
The nominating committee are

and Mrs. Rod Johaston.
The president spoke of the pass-
ing of Mrs. John Morgan who was
a faithful member for many years.

Hardy, Trafalgar street. Mrs.
Ernest Patterson, the president,
conducted the devotional period.

Following, the Meeting, the an-
nual Christmas party was held.
A sing -song of Cnristmas carols,
led by Mrs. Florence Rivers and
Mrs. Gertrude Kaitting with Mrs.
Nettie McInnis at the piano, pat
all in a festive emood Readings
were given by Mrs. Mary MoCabe
and Mrs. Ada Fritzley. A Christ-
mas contest was held with Mrs.
Grace Fuller winning first prize
and Mrs. Helen Harris, second. A
draw was\ made on a Christmas
cake, donated by Mrs. Georgina
Allen, with Mrs. Jean Pinder being
the winner.
Mrs. Frances Beevers and Mrs.
Elea Osbaldeston were in charge
of the tickets. Gifts from beneath
the lighted tree were distributed
after which a buffet lunch as
served from tables, beautifully
decorated with the Christmas motif
by MTS. Laura Riley and her com-
mittee.

STEAL DRILL RIFLES
Provincial Police are investigat-
ing the theft of six drill rifles from
the air cadet quarters at Sky
Harbor. The thieves forced a
window to gain entry, according to
Provincial Constable C. J. Parkin-
son, who is handling the case.
The break-in w.as discovered
Tuesday night -when members of
Maitland Air Cadet Squadron ar-
rived for their weekly practice.
Air cadet officials deseribe the
stolen rifles as "unserviceable.
They are not in safe firing condi-
tioa.

Holmes on Thursday last. While

family at Zurich.

on Tuesday for Flor:da for an ex-
tended visit.

for the ensuing Sundays.

Donald McCabe attended the an-
nual Huron Hereford Association
banquet held in Dungannon on
Tuesday night. All 4-41 members
showing Hereford valvas were in-
vi"ed.
