NOW COMPETING AT OLYMPICS
Frequent visitors _ to Goderich
and grandchildren of Mrs. Susan
Grigg, Eldon street, Barbara and
Fletcher Gilders, of Detroit, are
making their names nationally
known in the field of sport. Both
have spent many summers in Gode-
rich where they practised diving
in which they are now experts.
Named as Detroit's outstanding
female athlete in 1956, beauteous
Barbara Gilders received the city's
top athletic award at the annual
Sports Day luncheon for the Unit-
ed Foundation's Torth Drive. She
is the 19 -year-old National AUU
indoor champion and finished De-
troit Mackenzie High School last
January. Miss Gilders has been
selected to represent the United
States in diving competitions at the
Olympics at Melbourne. Australia.
She expects to have a strong
rooter in the stands when she com-
petes at the Olympie-s. He will be

Through the Gideon Society,
over 300 senior pupils of Goderich
Pulblic School will be given copies
of the New Testament.
At the November meeting of
Goderich Public School Board,
Chairman Don Aberhart explained
that Cliff Talbot, a representative
of the 'society, had recently asked

A Nomination Meeting for the Township of Goderich will be
held in the TOWN HALL, CLINTON, on
Friday, allovember 30
between the houl's of 1 and 2 P.M.
Nominations will be for the office of Reeve and 4 Councillors

the positions of Two Teustees for the Township School Area
Board for Two-year terms.

the W.M.S. with prayer. Mrs.

Johnson read the study book chap-
ter, and then conducted .a panel
discussion assisted by Mrs, Finlay
Macdonald, Mrs. Wilbiam Ross,
Mrs. David Mackenzie, Mrs. Henry
Mackenzie, Mrs. D. A MacLean,
Mrs. David iMacMurchy and Mrs.
Moncrief. Mrs. Ross Mackenzie
gave a reading and 24 members
answered the roil call 'by naming
a ,missionary. Mrs. Howes read
the report of the nominating com-
mittee. It was deckled to hold the
December meeting a week earlier
than usual. Mrs. Van der Ley
gave a prayer and Mrs. David Mac-
kenzie closed the meeting with
prayer. The hostess, Mrs. Reuben
Wilson, 'assisted by the committee,
served lunch. There were four
children present.
Mr. and Mrs. Colin MacGregor
are visiting their daughter, Mrs.
George Leadbetter, in Toronto.

Ten persons were injured in 11
accidents which were investigated
by Goderich detachment of Ontario
Provincial Police during October.
This represents an increase over
September when five persons were
hurt in 10 accidents.
Daring October, officers of the
local detachment checked 165
vehicles, issued 58 warnings and
laid 29 charges uhder the Highway
Traffic Act.
