The honaebrew crew, eoaehed by Ted Williams, local ' arena manager, will play in a group with Clinton, Zurich, Ilcderton, Mitchell and Lucan. "Nip" Whetstone is acting tempokarily as team manager and Guy Emerson is business manager. Groundwork for the new hoxnebrew club was laid largely by Doug Cruickshank, Practices Hole! ' Three practices have been held already and the club, as yet with- out 'a name, will probably play its first game here during the last week in November. So far, posi- tions on the team are still- wide open 'bttt a list of players will probably 'be announced next week. Originally, before the homebrew entry appeared on the scene, it looked as if there would be a strong WOAA intermediate loop comprising 'Goderich . Sailors, Ex- eter Mohawks, Paisley, Mitchell and Lucan. Then, apparently, Mitchell and Lucan got cold feet. Booster Club It was at this point, after months of planning and frustration, that the Goderich Booster Club, spon- sors of the Sailors, stepped aside and left the ice .to the new home- brew aggregation. Exeter, a town with only half the .population of Goderich, was then accepted into OHA senior "B" ranks. The Mohawks will play in a league with Landon, Strathroy, Woodstock, Sarnia, St. Thomas.and Wallaceburg. Jack Evens, who was the hard- working manager of the disbanded Goderich Sailors, states that re- funds will be made to sports fans who bought "privilege cards" for the 1956-57 season. Bill Walsh, of Stratford, who was _ought as playing-coa"h of the Sailors until they folded, has been released to the Woodstock senior club. Walsh had already handled one practice ses:sioneat the arena here before plans collapsed for an ij ter- rne.diate "A" entry. Now that the ice is in the arena, minor hockey is gaining Momen- tum, says Ted Williams, recreation director. The midgets have had a couple of workouts already, while the bantams and pee wees are to register this week -end. Goderich Midgets, last year's On- tario champions, look very promis- ing again. The finny -creature hooked by Mayor J. E. Huckins last week -end seemed intent on pulling His Worship into Lake Huron. The mayor, who was angling from the 'breakwall, hadn't had a bite all day. Then it happened. His rod was yanked almost out of his hands. He never did get to see the fish, and he Post his plug and leader in the struggle. The mayor figures it must have been a pike --and a large one at that. He has caught fish weighing up to 10 pounds before on the same line without mishap.
