Police Laid 3 5
H.T.A. Charges
Here Last. Month
uring September, local police
laid 35 charges under 'the -High-
way Traffic Act, according to the
report presented to Town Council
by Police Chief F. M. Hall. Seven
charges were laid under the Crim-
inal Code, one under the Canada
Temperance •Aot ` and one under a
local by-law.
Three cars and 11- bicycles were
stolen during the month and the
same number recovered. There
were 10 arrests and one transient
given 'shelter.
Council was also informed that
a Toronto firm plans to demon-
strate a speed trap here on Oct.
16. Presumably, the firm hopes
to interest district police depart-
ments in buying the devices, but
so far Goderich has given no
official encouragement to the idea.

Councul To Seek
Suitabie Meeting
Place for "Cubs"
`) The problem of securing
suitable eccoanmodation for
Second Goderich Cub pack was
,brought to' the attention of
Town Council by Councillor C.
M. Roberteen, Pride iy. He not"
ed that the; difficulty had been
outlined by John F. Cory, Cub -
master, in aletter published
in The Signal tar on -October
4.-
The trouble, observed Coun-
cillor Rolbertsprn, seems to be
that there is insufficient room
for the Citbs in the 'MacKay
Hall basement and larger facil-
ities are not available at a
convenient time.
The councillor addled,. "1 can
recall when the Cubs were or-
ganized away back 44 years
ago when Rev. Ross was here.
It' a worthy organization, it
helps our boys and I think
we should help them out if we
can. I don't kpaw whether
they ;might be -accommodated
at the Prowl—Mall or not."
The problem of -a home for
the Cubs was put over to thea
next Couneil meeting for coo -
sideration.
Mr. and Mrs. o James Ruddock

they visited their daughter, Mrs.
Earl lianas and family,
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lawrence, of

Ideas Vary For
Court Rause Park
It seems that almost everyone
has plans for Court House Park
these days.
The snow fences which protected
the pew grass all summer had no
sooner been removed when half a
dozen football -minded boys decid-
ed the ground would make an ideal
grid -iron. Their game was short-
lived as a police constable arrived
on the scene and asked them to
take their business elsewhere.
Then at Friday night's Town
Council meeting, a letter was re-
ceived from Walter J. Oakes, of
Hensall, who also has plans for
the park. In fact, he submitted a
diagram showing how Council
could beautify the park with young
trees a orJ _. .
