tm Report
iv A.rS. Soften, Asst. Ag. Rep.
Last week very little progress
'was made in harvesting operations.
Approximately one-third of the
grain crop in the County has now
been swathed or stooked. Of this,
much will be damaged by sprout-
ing and will be very dark in color
when. threshed. A small acreage
of second cut hay has been cut
but unless we have thy weather
it will be impossible to harvest
second- cut hay Of good quality •
A number of farmers in the
County have prepared land for fall
wheat and rye while waiting for
the other grain to dry.

Any housewife woul1 have
thought of it! But credit goes to
the builders of the U.S. Navy's
mighty new carrier, U.S.S.
Ranger, for using aluminum foil
to keep their product "fresh".
During construction, a ship
rests on wooden blocks, which
absorb a lot of moisture. To
protect their costly steel hull
from rust and corrosion during
the 18 -month construction pe-
riod, the Navy simply covered
r • the blocks with ordinary house-
hold foil. This brainwavc was a
natural for a marine builder,
since nowadays he uses shiny,
non -corroding aluminum so
widely for superstructures, life-
boats and other important ship-
building components.

Donald Archer is really in tune with the times
High fidelity sound expert Donald Archer says:
"On older phonographs and records you could hear only
part of the sound range. Today's 'hi-fi' systems reproduce
the lowest and highest notes of the musical scale with start-
ling realism. This modern development has meant great
progress in the recording field."
As a family man, Mr. Archer also benefits by continuous
progress in another field ... life' insurance. Policies are
more flexible and more adaptable to the needs of individual
families. ' -• • •
"today, you can obtain life•insurance policies that provide
not only basic protection hut ready f undo for emergencies,
also policies for education, for safeguarding your home,
for protecting your business and for ensuring your retire-
ment income. -•
In these and alher ways, the life insurance companies in
Canada have pro.gressed with the times ... meeting the
needs of people in all Walks of life!
