After a brief service of worship, Miss. George Grifli'dhs, superintend- ent of the, primary class, introduc- ed her a'SS ista�nflts, Mrs. Earl Raith- by, Mrs. George Chrysler, Mrs. S. H. Findlay, Miss Marie Raithby, and Miss Marjorie Johnston. The primary program included a vocal duet by Harvey Skinner and Robbie - Cadman. The junior department was under direction of Rev. S. H. Find- lay, assisted by Mrs. Robert Wilson, Miss Beatrice Campbell, and Mrs. Stanley Whiteman. Miss Beatrice Campbell gave an account of her recent trip to South America, illustrated with colored slides. A solo was sung by Richard Watson, with the audience joining in the choruses. Mrs. Robert" Wil- son was piano accompanist for the program. Handwork by the pupils was dis- played, and received much com- mend-ation. A perfect record of attendance was attained by Mary Smith, Susan Barlow, Barbara Findlay, Linda Barlow, Robbie Cadman, Harvey Skinner,• Teddy Chrysler, Allan Chrysler, Paul Johnston, John Raithby, ;Brian Smith, Janet Wil- liams, Richard Watson, Terrance Hudson, Patty Stowe, Charles Skinner, Ivan Harris, David Wat- son, and Teddy Barker. Annie Van der Ley spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Weirs - ma, in Oshawa. Mrs. Rod MacKenzie who sus- tained a fractured ankle in a car accident is able to be home again. Among visitors in the commun- ity on Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm MacLennan and daughter Jean, of Barrie; Mrs. S. McInnes and also at Eganville and Ottawa. 8: SPORTS CALENDAR BIG FOUR Ladies' Fastball Tournament Agricultural Park Goderich Monday, Aug. 6 FGSHER--SOWERBY Betty Louise Sowerby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sowerby, of Goderich Township, became the bride of Gerald Preston Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Fisher, of Colborne Township, in a cere- mony in St. George's Church, Goderich, on Saturday at noon. Rev. K. E. Taylor performed the ceremony. Wedding music was played by J. F. Stephens. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a waltz -length em- broidered crystalette gown with matching jacket with Peter Pan collar,- lily -point sleeves, and a French illusion veil with flowered headdress studded with pearls. She carried a white Bible topped with red Sweetheart roses and stephanotis. Mrs. Bruce Sowerby of Goderich, sister-in-law of the bride, as brides- maid, wore a waltz -length blue em- bossed nylon dress with matching jacket, and a headdress of blue nylon studded with pastel sequins. She carried a nosegay of pink tinted chrysanthemums and tulle. Judy Graham, niece of the bride- groom, was flower -girl in a floor - length, pink embroidered nylon dress, with flowered headdress, and parried a basket of pink carnations and baby's breath. Eugene Rutledge of Detroit, cou-' sin of the bridegroom, was best man. Bruce Sowerby and Arnold Young were ushers. , At a reception at - the'Bedford` Hotel, the bride's mother received in a navy sheer dress with white •accessories and a corsage of pink roses. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother who wore a navy sheer dress with navy acces- sories and a corsage of -pink roses. For, the wedding trip to Algon- quin Park, the bride travelled in a blue and white figured pique dress topped with a blue linen duster, and white accessories, ,.and a corsage of real roses. Im Here Tourney Here A rare opportunity awaits Gode- rich sports fans on Civic Holiday, Monday, August 6. They will have a chance to watch four fine ladies' fastball teams in action the same day. The tournament is a new venture being staged by Goderich Dodgers, Sarnia Imperials, Strat- ford Kroehiers ;and Florence Chicks, the teams which make up the Big Four Fastball League. The first game ge4 underway at 2.30 p.m. in Agricultural Park and the second contest begins at 4 p.m. The two winners will meet at 8 p.m. to decide the tournament championship. The Dodgers have been marking time while their star pitcher,- Kay MacKinnon, is on her honeymoon. She is, in fact, the only regular hurler on the roster of the 1955 Ontario champions. The Salvation Army uniform was worn by the entire bridal party. The bride carried a white Bible with red roses, with stream- ers of the Salvation Army colors knotted by rose buds.
