The Weather was almost ideal --- it didn't rain and it wa, .'t too hot. While there was keen comtieti- tin in many classes, observers had to admit that one of the more ilia - portant (features - particularly in he case of the younger competi- tors --was the distribution of hot dogs and ice cream bars. This was the annual treat provided through a fund set up by the late Robert MacKay.' The goodies were dispensed by lathes of the Home and School Association. - The highest number of points in the meet was 'seared by Buddy Robinson, who wor, all four events in the intermediate boys' section. He earned 20 points and Michael Helesic, his nearest competitor, • snored nine points. Kenneth Million, with 15 points, topped the senior b9ys and Wayne Muck was runner-up with 11 points. In the junior boys' section, Vernon , Skeoch was tops with 14 points and Wayne Rumig came • second with 11 points. Two Girls Tie There was a tie for the leader- ship in the senior girls' division. Marlene Leitch and Karen Black scored 12 points apiece. The champion intermediate girl was Ruth Durnin with 15 points, seven more than Betty Allen. In the junior girls' class, Victoria Wil- liams edged Judy Westbrook by 10 points tb nine. Most major events took place at Agricultural Park but the grounds of the old collegiate institute were used for the high jump competi- tion in the intermediate and senior boys' division and senior girls' class. The hours 6p.m. to 9 after July 1, 1956 will be from°p.m. Failure of the customers' cooperation will result in the penalty of the'by-law. . Office hours after July 1, 1956 will be from 9 to 5 - Saturdays 9 -12. Goderich Public Utilities Commission of kindergarten and grades 1 and 2 were held oh the grounds of ,Goderich -Public School under the supervision of teachers of the tunior grades. Medals Will be presented to champions of each division at the next commencement exercises. Their names will be placed on plaques in the hall of the public school and they will be allowed to keep winners' shields for the next year. The field day program was, dir- ,ected by H. M. Shackleton, prin. cipal of Goderich Public School. Numerous teachers assisted in handling the various events.
