On Thursday, May 17, the third
annual Athletic Banquet' s held
in the'cafeteria. After a delicious
turkey dinner, Peter -Lierman led
a sing -song and the former stud-
ents were introduced. Beth An -
stay ,introduced the girls' guest
speaker, Mrs. J. Erskine,, of Gode-
rich, who spoke on the benefits of
recreation. John Simpson intro-
duced the boys' guest speaker,
Mickey Roth, who spoke on his
trip to the Olympic hockey games.
The highlight of the evening was
the presentation of awards in
which Members of the various
teams and organisations received
bars. The captains of the teams
presented gifts to the coaches in
appreciation of their hard work
throughout the year. Two of the

they will be as successful in their
new schools as they were here.
Twenty -sit students were pre-
sented with the school letter by
Mr. Scanlan who in turn received
a gift presented by Jo-hn Simpson
on behalf of 'both AthJ,etic Associ-
ations for his work in arranging
PORT ALBERT
PORT ALBERT, May 28.—Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Balkwill and two
daughters, of Toronto, and Mrs.
Mary Dickson and r'r'ed, of Lon-
don, spent the holiday week -end at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry
Lednor.
Billy Hayden is visiting this
week with his uncle, E. Carr, at
Dungannon.
Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Glen, of
Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
Crawford spent last week -end with
the latter's brother, Dr. R. W.
Cunningham, and family, of Walk-
erville and on Saturday attended
the wedding in Detroit of their
nephew, Billy Ifenstock, and Miss
Carol Ann Gould.
For the summer months, the ser-
vices of United Church will be
held starting next 'Sunday at 1.30
p.m. and Sunday school at 12.30
p.m.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Tigert, of
St. Catharines, spent the holiday
week -end with Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Tigert, also Miss Isoibel Tigert,
of London.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Crawford
and two daughters, of • Toronto,
spent the week -end with Mr. and
Mrs. ° Bert Crawford. Mrs. Will
Crawford returned home with them
after being in hospital a couple of
weeks where she had a cataract
removed from one eye.
Mrs. Roy Petrie has been spend-
ing the past three weeks with her
daughter, Mrs. Chas. Crossett and
family, at Sarnia, Mrs. Crossett
recently having had a sort, Dean
Lincoln.

for winning the golf Championship
and Bill Robinson received the cup
for winning the swimming champ-
ionship. Mr. Roth presented' the
trophy to Bill Gardiner, captain of
Junior Boys' Basketball team, who
were winners of the group champ-
ionship. Presentation of the
Honor school letter to Shirley Anne
Bedard by Mr. Scott, climaxed the
evening..
Following the banquet and pre-
sentations, there was dancing in
the auditorium. The executive of
the Girls' and Boys' Athletic As-
sociation are to be congratulated
for their work in making the
evening a huge success.
