What would .have been the Gode-
.Cieb Basketball team, had sponsors
come forth to back the team, held
an exhibitiongame in the Col-
legiate gym with the GD:C.I.
basketball club, Friday night and
beat the Collegiate .Boys 77-50.
Another player has been added
to the Sailors' line-up. Lorne
Rivers, who splayed with the Semis
Pontiacs during the 1953-54 sea-
son, is back with the Intermediate
Club to help out on the left wing
spot. Lorne, a local boy, has been
taking an electrical course in Tor-
onto and was not available to the
team until this month.
Ted Williams who has -missed
several games with an injured
knee has been working out with
the team and hopes to be back
in the lime -up, for Friday night's
game with the Forest Lakesides.
Noticeably absent from the
homegames played by the Inter-
mediates here this year have been
the free-for-all fights which have
been plaguing the N.H.12 and other
professional clubs this season-. It
appears that the boys realize more
and more that games cannot be
won from the penalty -box.
T.V. viewers in this darict who
watched Saturday night's ,game_be-
tween Toronto and New York were
fortunate in being treated to the
best game so_ rthis....seasof- •
fit L. hockey. The Leafs provid-
ed '-the thrills the enal five
minutes of play when they scored
three goals in 52 seconds and
played for two minutes and 40
seconds without a goalkeeper and
without being scored against,
,Goderich Midgets have set them-
selves an enviable record but
Coach Ted Williams is not satis-
fied with the way some of the
'boys arepassing the punk and he
intends to do something about ' it.
It is obvious from looking over
the scoring record that ; although
some" of the players are getting a
lot of goals, they are not much
on the ,playymaking end of the
game. Winning the games doesn't
mean much if the boys will not
learn the art of playing the game.
