The Goderich pelice Department
is issuing a warning to all children
playing on or near the streets of
the added hazards 'brought on by
slippery roads and poor visibility.
Police Chief, F. M. Ha11 reports
he has received several complaints
of children hanging on to car
bumpers and sliding ' along' the
road. Children are• also 'reported
to be tying toboggans and sleds
to the bumpers to be pulled, along.
The Department also cautions
children about sleigh -riding and
tobogganing on sio•pes that run
sent near the streets. They advise,
too, that children be exceptionally
careful when riding bicycles and
crossing the streets. Even motor-
ists travelling well within the
speed limit may •have difficulty
stopping -in time when streets are
slippery.
Pasteurization of ripened natural
cheese is now possible by means
of high frequency radio waves,
after it has been put in its wrap-
per.

theirs is the. worst record of all

The "no alcohol" rule univers-
ally . enforced in athletics, trans-
portation and industry, is based
'on sound scientific research into
the actual effects of drinking.
Fatigue is one very important
affect, but only • one. Alcohol
blurs vision and interferes with
.i skills involving split-second timing
and good judgment. Reaction
time is, increased and gross errors
are made in judging speeds and
distance.
Little wonder that alcohol is re-
sponsible for one out cof five fatal

and that drinking drivers are in-
volved in . upwards of 50% of
