able to attribute to the Prime Minister the
conviction that the public welfare comes
ahead of any privilege normally enjoyed by a
section of the people.
It is essential that the railways be ,kept,
operation and the Prime Minister will have
public support, in his stand on this very im-
portant question.

- Ross Whither, who made .such a political
tuft' over i riiTe county at the Last electitatr;
has gone on the air with his v- iws on, health
insurance. Evidently he_ does not"'believe that
a grandiose scheme such as suggested by some
pSoliticians and,,,, others would have the support
of the people,_ for the reason that it would be
too costly. The total cost of a plan advocated
by the C.C.F. party, he says, would almost
double Provincial taxes immediately. His
atmggestion ,-is a form of "catastrophe insur-

have to be some Government supervision of
such cases, in order to prevent' fraud, but it is
well known that, not infrequently illness
strikes a family with expenses that they are
utterly unable to meet, and the, bills present a
burden that wrecks their lives. We believe
Mr. Whither is on the right track and that
he is getting the health insurance question
down to a practical 'b as i°s,

this ye'a`r.., Post master Homuth
said this ii:due largely to the fact
thatt'the residents of Goderich have
Co -Operated in getting their mail
out early, addressing their en-
velopes and parcels !clearly, wrap-
ping the parcels adequately and
tying their envelopes together
when mailing them. He said the

help and wish to ,extend their ap-
preciation to Goderich 'citizens.
The maid wickets will be closed

was it said that Canada was becoming warmer?
Next year Canada is to have its first five-
year census. In June 17,000 enunierators will
begin the work of counting the population
and recording the answers to„,4 list of ques-
