Taylor officiated in St. George's Anglican Church Saturday., October 1, at a double -ring ceremony uniting in marriage Viola Eileen Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schmidt, Goderich, with Elwin Eugene Rutledge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Rutledge, Detroit. The church was decorated with baskets of pink and white gladioli and. white and pink mums. Given in marriage by her father, the bride 'wore a floor -length gown of white nylon brocade and net over satin fashioned with rounded pearl -studded neckline and lily - point sleeves. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown studded with pearls. She carried a white Bible with white satin streamers knotted with lily .of the valley. Maid of honor was Leona Schmidt, of London, sister of the bride, who wore a ballehriria,ie'ngth dress of yellow crystaletrte with matching headdress. She carried a nosegay of yellow gladioli and bronze mums. Beaty Sowerby, of Goderich. was bridesmaid and wore a ballerina -length gown of aqua orystaltte with matching head- dress. She carried a nosegay of yellow gladioli and moons. • Janet Young, cousin of the groom, was the little flower girl. She was dressed in a' light blue taffeta and net gown and carried at basket of pink and: rase mums. Gerald Fisher, of Goderich, cous- in of the groom, was best man, and •the ushers were Benson Graham and Frank Schmidt, brother of the bride. A reception was held at the Bed- ford Hotel where dinner was serv- ed. The bride's Mather received, wearing a grey gabardine suit with navy accessories' and a corsage of pink mums. The groom's mother assisted, wearing a brown gabar- aline suit with beige accessories and a corsage of bronze baby mums.. Guests were present from Detroit, Port Elgin and London. For a wedding trip to St. Peters- burg, Fla., the bride chase a pink hairpin wool dress with matching stole, and 'pink and navy acces- sories. Her corsage was pink gladioli and pink baby {mums. The couple will reside in Detroit. Prior to her marriage, the bride was honoredat a miscellaneous shower held at the home of Miss' Betty Sowerby. P. Walter, of Goderich, and the late Mrs.'Walter. Rev, James Milroy officiated at the double -rang ceremony and Erwin Powrie was soloist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose a cock- tail -length sheath dress of pale pink crystalline with 'pink shoes and gloves. A wreath of pink sweetheart roses was nestled her hair, and she carried a,wh•ite Bible mounted with a nosegay bf, pink sweetheart roses and satin' streamers. She wore a double strand of pearls, gift* from the groom. Miss Jean Black attended the bride in a sheath 'afternoon frock in orchid tone, with beige model hat and accessories. She carried a nosegay of white and pink roses and carnations. Groomsman was Robert 1Vlucar of New Brunswick, and ushers were Gordon Walter and Kenneth McNair. To travel, the -bride "donned a full-length pink coat -to .rpatch her wedding dress, and her ensemble was complemented by a black lace hat, black gloves, shoes and bag and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses. Following a wedding trip by car to Owen Sound, Ottawa and. Que-, bec, the couple will reside in Toronto. The bride, a graduate of Western Canada , High, School and the Dea- coness Training School in Toronto, is a deaconess at Rogers Memorial Church, and the groom is ,prepar- ing for the ministry of the Presby- terian Church of Canada. The groom's sister, Miss Shir- ley Bean, of London, was brides- maid in ballerina -length gown of blue nylon net over taffeta with -nylon net (bolero, matching head- dress and net lily point mitts. Pink ribbon' adorned her • bouquet of white Shasta mums. The groomsman was Donald King, of London, and Charlie Haw- thorne, of Goderich, ushered. ' For reception' at the Windsor Hotel, Kincardine, the bride's mo- ther wore charcoal blue dress with navy acressories and corsage of pink carnations. ' For a Florida wedding trip the bride wore medium blue suit, white topcoat, whiteand black accessories and. red rose corsage. Montgomery announced this week that again an all-time record number of young people from Huron County will -be in attendance at an Agricultural. College or Agricultural School during the fall and winter months. Thirty-nine people from the county will be returning or have already returned to continue their course of studies at either the On- tario Agricultural College, Ontario Veterinary College and Macdonald Institute, Guelph or the Western Ontario Agricultural School at Ridgetown. Four young men from the county have already enrolled in the first year of the degree or four-year course leading to•the de- gree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at the O.A.C., Guelph. Four young men will be entering the first year of the diploma or two-year course at the O.A.C. Four young ladies, Miss' Rose- mary Clark, R.R. 5, Goderich, Miss Ruth Hemingway, Brussels; Miss Marie Hodgson and Miss Joan Thomson, Exeter, have been ac- cepted in the first year of the four-year degree course in Home Economics at MacdonaldInstitute, Guelph. Also Miss Mary Whyte, R.R,, 2, Seaforth, has been accepted in the diploma course at Macdon- ald" institute. Ten young men from the county have been accepted to enter the first year of the two-year course in Agriculture at the Western On- tario Agricultural School at Ridge - •town. Frank Alton, R.R. 7, Lucknow; Kevin Delbridge, Exeter; William Pincombe, ,R:R. 3, Exeter, and Donald McCharles, R.R. 3, Lucknow, All told, 62 young peo- ple from the county will be in attendance at an,Agricultural 'Col- lege or Agricultural School during the 1955-56 term: Scholarships The Huron County Council awards three $100 scholarships each year; one scholarship avail- able to those enrolling -in the Agri- cultural degree course at the On- tario Agricultural College, Guelph, and one scholarship 'available to those enrolling in the diploma course at the same college. The other $100 sohol•arship is available to those entering the first year of the two-year course in Agriculture at the Western Ontario Agricul- tural School at •Ridgetown. The committee has announced that James I. McIntosh, Seafo th, is the winner, of the $100 scholar- ship awarded for those entering the first year of the degree course at the O.A.C. Lloyd Holland, Clinton, is the winner of the one -hundred scholar- ship available to those entering the fleetyear of the diploma Agri- cultural course at the O.A.C.
