Lined up, some of whom will be in
the Sailors' uniform next year.
The meeting agreed that the
Booster Club would aim for a
target of $2,000 in an attempt to
bring to the town 'an Ontario
Championslip team. The club has
a bank balance of $500 and last
week reeeived the first donation
for the current year -$100 from
one of the local,' industries. To
raise more money, the club has a
draw on the Mareiano-Moore title
fight slated next month. So, while
baseball and football may be cur-
rent, let's no forget next winter's
hockey. The Booster Club is a
group that every sports madded
citizen should back to the limit.
The group has further money -
raising plans for the future with

The Goderich Dodgers wound,up
their schedule of games in WOAA
Ladies'• Intermediate Softball Lea-
gue with two easy victories .over
the inexperienced Windham team.
The Dodgers took the first game,
played in Bayfield, July 27, by a
score of 28-10. •
Goderich batters knocked out
eight extra base . hits, including
home runs by Joanne Castle, Pearl
Emmerton, Mike Hartlin and Aud-
rey Harmsen-. Kay MacKinnon
pitched no -hit ball for Goderich
in the first three innings, and
Adeline Riehl, who took' over in
the fourth, held Wingham hitless
for two innings. In the last two
inniligs, W'irigham collected eight
hits and scored tee, runs.

One -Hitter
In the return game, played in
Wingham, August 2, the Dodger
trounced Wingham 26-1. Pearl
with their sights set on trying to
win a title. 'In fact, they started
the title quest last night 'when
they met the Walkerton midget
nine in Walkerton in the first
pine of a best -of -three series.
Second game is scheduled to be
held here on Saturday at Agricul-
tural
gricuhtural Park in conjunction with the
Derry Day celebration According
to team manager Harry "Red"
Worsell, the team has been given
a bye into the WOAA Bantam "B"
series. During the summer, the
team had been playing in a five -
team loop of which St. Marys was
the only other "B" team. St.
o Marys, however, has decided not
to take part in playoffs. Site for
a third game, if .necessary, in the
Walkerton-Goderich series was to
have been decided last night. "Ifv
we win this playoff, then we'll go
into Ontario Baseball Association
playoffs," Mr. Worsell said. Game
time on Saturday has been set for
4 p.m. and it's hoped that a good
crowd will be on hand to cheer
the local kids to victory.

A sport that hasn't had too much
publicity for some time is horse-
shoe. pitching. But we're told by
the Kinsmen Club of Hensall that
a Western Ontario horseshoe pitch-
ing championship is being planned
by the club in conjunction with its
annual ' Bean Festival on Labor
Day. Prizes are being offered for
singles and doubles trophies. D.
C. Joynt, secretary of"the Kinsmen
Club of Hensall, is the man look-
ing after the .entries.
Emmerton and Adeline Riehl hit,
home runs for Goderich. Joanne
Castle led the Dodgers at the plate,
collecting five hits and scoring six
runs in six at bats. MacKinnon
and Riehl, pitching for, Goderich,
allowed only four hits while strik-
ing out 13.

Down Hamilton
In an exhibition ladies' softball
game played before the largest
crowd of the year in Goderich,
August 6, the ,Goderich Dodgers
defeated the Hamilton Rosefields.
6-3.
Hamilton got off to a fast start,.
with one run in and the bases
loaded before the tfirst put-out, but
Kay MacKinnon retired the next
three batters to end the threat.
The Dodgers scored four quick
runs in their half of the first to
take a 4-1 lead. Hamilton loaded
the bases with the first three
atters in the second but were un -
a to score. Then both teams
settled down to serious ball -play-
ing and no runner got past second
until the fifth.
In the fifth, Hamilton went hit-
less but a Dodger error end three
walks allowed two runs.' score,
cutting the Dodger lead to one
run. Goderich increasedthe lead
to three runs in the last of the
eighth, when Joanne Castle
singled, went to second on a sacri-
fice bunt by Audrey McCabe, and
scored on a Hamilton error, and
Mike Hartlin.. ended the scoring
with a home run.
MacKinnon had 11 strikeouts to
eight for the Harhilton pitcher,
Hayhurst. A return game is slated
for Hamilton, August 26.

The Goderich Dodgers travelled
to Mount Brydges,' August 8, and
won their 17th game in 20 starts,
defeating their hosts 9-3.
The Dodgers got off to en early
start in the 'first' inning, when
Joanne Castle singled, , took third
on a single: by Pearl Emrnerton,
and scored on a single by Mike
Hartlin. Then Emmerton and
Hartlin scored on Audrey Harri-
son's tril3le. Goderich added an-
other run . in the -third when Em-
merton, after taking base '.on an
error, scored on a triple by Hart-
lih. In the last of the .fifth Mt.
Brydges got their first Tun to
make it 4-1. Emmerton got that
one
Playoff Schedule
Set For_Dodgers
It's playoff time for Goderich's
champion ladies' softball team.
Aud tonight' the Dodgers take on
Fergus in the first game of a
round-robin series with Fergus as
opponents.
On Monday night the locals will
be at home to the Mount Forest
squad.
The six -game Playoff schedule is
to eliminate one team. Following
this there will be a best -of -three
series between the two remaining
teams.

Sixteen Goderich boys, mem-
bers of No. 532 Maitland Air Cadet
Squadron are winding up their
second week. of a two-week sum-
mer camp at the Clinton' RCAF
Station.
At the annual camp, the boys
undergo a period of training, take
tours and, receive special instruc-
tion.
Two of the cadets, Sgt. Maurice
Loiselle' and. Sgt. Bob Wood are
taking a special Non-Conirtiissioned
Officers' course at the station, and
Flt. Sgt. Charles Townsend is the
NCO in charge of the remaining
cadets at -camp.
Other cadets ,who are at the
