Building Permit
Valles . Stay Hi
Despite the fact that there 'are
no big building jobs in sight, the
value of pnilctrng permits issued -
so far this , year by the Town of
Goderich is wellahead of the value
for the first three months of 1954.
According to statistics obtained
from Town Clerk S. H. Blake's
office, building permit values for
the first three months of 1955 total
$35,$50 compared' with $19,720 for
the same period last year:
Largest Total
In this month alone,' the value
of five permits issued totals
$21,300 — more than the three
months last year..
In January of this year, there
• were three permits issued with •a
total value of $13,500. Last year
there were two permits issued with
a total value of $5,500 pa J•anuary,. •
Four permits were ` issued in
both February this year and in
February last year. The total, last
year, however, was $8,620 com-
pared with a total of $1,050 this
. year. In March of last year there
were three permits issued with a
total value ,of $5,000.
It if."doubted, however, 'if this
year's total value of 'permits will
equal or. surpass last year's record
of $1,882,660. Contributing to the
record high last year were three
main projeots—construction of 26
new rental houses, new grain bins
at the harbor and start of con-
struction of the new Huron County
