changes were made, from the, pre-
vious year, with the exception of
Councillor -K. C. Merner replacing
forrner Councillor Deeves as relief
officer.
• A delegation frotn the Bayfield
Fire Department gave a detailed
report of their equipment, and
asked for a grant. Special men-
tion was made of the availability
of the two trucks and their total
gallonage, frog nozzle, special masks
for tie ' firemen, and the inhalator.
The latter can be operated by any
of the firemen, but only a medical
dectar could advise when it should
be put into use.
By-law No. 3, to approve of a
sub -division plan' of Mr. and Mrs.
'LeRoy Poth was given three read-
ings and passed. By-law No. 4, to
approve of tree-rplaniting agree-
ments with six landowners of the
township was passed. Once again
this township has reached the
maximum4.t?.f„50 acres per year for
reforesting under this agreement.
By-law 1No:' 5, to authorize the
borrowing of up to $25,000 for cur-
rent expenditures, was passed.
The committee in charge of the
Brucellosis campaign in the town-
ship was appointed. Members are:
E. Mcllwain, Robert Stirling, and
R. Thompson. The inspectors re-
appointed were H.•Tyndall and H.
McCartney. Robert Welsh request-
ed further grants train the town-
ship for the School Area as a result
Of having to transport certain
pupils from an overcrowded school.
A number of ratepayers express-
ed their opinion regarding the
boundary of the' Clinton and Gode
rich High School was. NO ac -
,tion was taken at .this time.
A.ccaunts and grants approved
included:. $ayfield Fire Depart-
ment grant,, $260; Huron County
Seed 'Fair, grant, $25; J. Gilbert,
refund of dog tax, $2; Municipal
World, 10 subscriptions, $20; H.
Tyndall, 'inspecting Calves under
Brucellosis Act, $13.60; H. Mc-
Cartney, inspecting calves under
Brucellosis. Act,, $30,20; R. Stirling,
Brucellosis' committee payment,
$15; E. Mcllwain, Brucellosis com-
mittee payment, $15; R. Thompson,
Brucellosis committee payment,
$15; R. E. Thompson, registering
vital statistics, $4.75; Road Super-
intendent's pay roll No. 1,
.$1,466.82.

Mrs. Tait Clark, representative
of the Women's Institute for the
Huron County Federation of Agri-
culture, attended the convention in
the Ding 'Edward Hotel, Toronto,
last week from Monday until
Thursday,
Several from this district at-
tended the funeral of the late
William Jewell in Goderich last
Friday. Mr. Jewell was a former
resident here.
' Fred Gliddon, Mr, and Mrs., Rod
Bogie, Mir. and Mrs. James Horton
visited with Mrs. S. A. Hewitt in
Mitchell last Tuesday.
The Leeburn W,M.S. will meet
for their January meeting next
Wednesday afternoon at the North
Street parsonage.
Mrs. Thomas Jewell and ^Verne
attended the funeral of the form-
er's niece, Miss Isabel Murray in
Teeswater on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Gordon 'Keating'
are on a holiday metor trip to
Pennsylvania.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kerr spent
the week -end in Toronto with the
former's parents, ,W1r. and Mrs. R.

Neil Thompson, jr., St. John's,
P.Q., paid a flying visit to the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Thompson, last Saturday.

administered, the oath of office" by
the clerk, Mrs. William Sallows.
"The regular meeting followed at
1 .p.ni., with all members present;.
After hearing the clerk • read the
application from 13 persons for
the position -of road superintend-
ent left vacant, by the resignation
of George Bean, the reeve, Terence
Hunter, stated that all, 13 applic-
ants were good men, and it was
difficult to pick a man to fill the
position previouslyheld .for 27
years. It was decided then to hold
a specialMeeting on Tuesday even-
ing to make the appointment.'
William Clark appeared before
the council and asked. for 'a grant
for the Crop Improvement• Associ-
ation. Without any discussion, the
council voted $25.
Harry MoCreath, ,cemetery con-
vener, told council that thy? Zone
Forester' recommended removal of
a number of trees from the refor-
estation at the cemetery. After
some discussion, the council deeid-
ed to give the trees to any person
who would remove them for wood.
A representative from, the Col-
borne Township Municipal Tele-
phone system requested that the
trees along the 6th Concession of
Colborne be removed, to enable
them to build a new line in the
spring.
A number of township by-laws
were dealt with and passed.
The council decided to ask that,
all outstanding road accounts be
paid before January 29.
