Grace Church Sunday School is
holding its Christmas concert this
Friday evening in the basement
of the church.
The W.A. held its annual Christ-
mas meeting at the home of Mrs.
A. Lockhart with a good attend-
ance. The president, Mrs. Mc-
Cowan, bpened the meeting, after
which Mrs. -A. Harris led in prayer.
Mrs. D. Harris read the Scripture
reading. The treasurer's report
showed a good balance on hand to
start the new year. --It was decided
that a donation would be filmed
over to the Board of Stewards,
Mrs. A. Harris took charge of the
election of officers, which resulted
as follows: President, Mrs, Arlie
Lockhart; first vice-president, Mrs.
Ray Cox; secretary -treasurer, Mrs.
Pete Harrison; assistant treasurer,
Mrs. Gordon Manning; pianist,
Mrs. Will 'Cox; quilt committee,
Mrs. John Manning, Mrs. Bill
Townsend, Mrs. Reid Torrance,
Mrs. Gordon Manning.' The roll
call was answered by donating
bowls, relish dishes, cream' and
sugars and other articles for the
church kitche-n. Mrs. McCowan
thanked all those present for the
help she received in the past
year.

At their last meeting, held at the
home of Mrs. Andrew Bogie, the
ladies of the Leeburn W.M.S. wel-
comed Mrs. H. A. Dickinson, of
North Street United Church, Gade-
rich. Mrs. Terence Hunter was in
charge of . the warship service,
Scripture lesson was.read by Mrs.
Rod Bogie and prayer was offered
by Mrs. Elmer Hunter. Mrs.
Dickinson invited the ladies to
attend the Christmas party at the
North Street parsonage on Decern-
ber 15 and invited the society to
meet for their January meeting
at the parsonage. Plans were 'ar-
ranged for sending Christmas
cards and parcels. It was sug-
gested a sewing meeting be held
in January. A full report of the
West Sectional meeting in Bay-
field was given by Mrs. .T. Mc-
Bride. Part of a chapter of the
study book was read by ,Mrs. ,Joe
Freeman. The ladies were remind-
ed the December meeting will be
held on Thursday, December 16,
at -the hoihe of Mrs. J. Horton,

article for a Christmas parcel for
;Miss Lizzie Horton, Clinton.
Mrs. Andrew Bogie visited a few
clays recently in Toronto, the guest

MRS. P. E. HOEY
Funeral service was held in Tor-
onto last Saturday for Mrs.
Ffanees Eleanor Hoey, who died
at her home in Toronto on Wed-
nesday of last week. Interment
was in Mount Pleasant cemetery. -
Her husband, William Albert
°Hoey, predeeeased her. He con-
ducted a grocery business ini Gode-
eh when they lived here about
35 years ago. Mrs. Hoey was the

The annual meeting of Knox
Presbyterian Church W.M.S. was
held in the parlor on Tuesday
afternoon with the president, Mrs.
Robert Bisset presiding.
The Scripture lesson was read
by Mrs. J. Thomson and prayer
offered by Mrs. C. Saunders. Mrs.
G. Kaitting sang two Christmas
numbers accompanied by Mrs. R.
E. Wilson.
There were 42 hospital calls' and
16 home calls reported. It was
decided to make final payment on
the Chapel Communion table.
Reports of the year's activities
by the various secretaries were
most encouraging, showing a year
af progress in all departments.
