A441 they got a good start toward
their objective here la-st Saturday
night by soundly trouncing the
Goderich Sailors 6-0 in the open-
ing game of the season before a,
fair-sized crowd. •
The free-skatingForest team
skated the Sailors into the ice all
*through the game, and it was only
in the final frame that the local
squad was able to stave off the
Forest attack and prevent any
scoring.
Hick was the star for the visit-
ors,, collecting four ,goals, two in
each of the first and second
periods.
The game was less than two min-
utes old when Hick gat his first
marker. Half a minute later, he
drove the puck past Gerry Hesse
in the Goderich net for his second
counter on a shot from a face-off
in the cornet%
The Sailors couldn't seem to
click in the first frame, despite the
fact that at one time the Lake -
sides were short-handed with two
men sitting out penalties inthe
sin bin.
Baines ended the scoring in the
first stanza, blinking the light on a
knee-high shot from . just inside
the Goderich blueline.
Hick opened the scoring in the
second period at the 6.54 mark on
a solo effort. Four minutes later
he got his fourth and final counter
on a play with Randall. Forest
ended the scoring at the 14.24
mark of the second frame when
Norland found the mark.
--Per Goderich goalie Nesse, it
was a rough night. He was called
on to • make a lot of. good saves.
Bryce Defoe, in the Forest net
had a comparatively easy night,
with most Goderich shots going
wide of the cage.
Ten penalties were handed out,
• six to the Lakesides and four to
the Sailors. Farlow of the Lake -
sides was given a misconduct in
the „first stanza, while Wright of
Forst and Meriam of Goderich
were given major's for a second,

Concern over inability to expand
service of the Huron eoUnty 'Lib-
rary was voiced to County:Cotincil
here yesterday by Librarian Mrs.
Alice Jean Eckmier, of Galeria.
In herreport to council, Mrs.
Eckmier said that the library is
unable to expand because of lack
of time and trained help.
She told council also that thexe
were still 113 school rooms in
Huron not serviced by tlie:mobile
library, and that people Were be-
ginning' to demand this better lib-
rary service. 'Yen can see, what
this will entail," she said. "At
least another truck to do schools
only and another trained librarian
to assist with the work." •
Each book exchange schedule,
she said, covers calls. at 34 lib-
raries, three high schools, four de-
posit stations and 102 schools.
In addition, Farm Fawn groups
are now picking up boxes of books
for the winter season.
Three new ,places were added

It would be reasonably safe to predict
that no matter what'jdrama, what thrills,'are
forthcoming when east and west meet in the:
Grey Cup football final,.,there will be nothing
ro„excel the tension of the closing seconds
last Autumn, when Winnipeg Blue Bombers
were within inches and seconds of snatching
victory from defeat by the, east's champion Hamilton. Tigers..
Here was a gallant loser racing against the clock that in-
exorably ticked off the • final seconds. Actually, this magnifi-
cent drive started on the Winnipeg five -yard line, with the score
12-6 in favor of Hamilton. 105 yards away from the Tiger line,
time running out, Bombers followed a trail blazed by Jacobs,
as he daringly hurled pass after pas's, until play had, been
swept to within the very shadow of the last Hamilton line of
defence, only three yards from their touch -line. And here
came a finish of such high, throat -catching drama, we doubt it
will ever be equalled.
For, in that last few gripping seconds, a tie, perhaps vit-
tory for the west, hung in the balance. In one end of the
field, the hands of the big lectric clock where rolling off the
final 'Seconds of the final minute. Bombers came out of their
huddle.
Tom Casey, all day a sure -handed catcher, slipped around
the end, as Jacobs drifted back. Then he threw his last pitch
of the 46 he had winged up and down the field.
It rose high, and there, in the crisp sunny air of a perfect
November day, hung both the ball and the Dominion football
title. Casey, right on the Hamilton line, launched his tall Jean
• form into the air. His fingers just touchedthefloating sphere
and as they did, Lou Kusserow hit Casey heavily in the back.
His feet off the ground, Casey fell. The clock has just hit
the final second. The game was over. •

were defeated 6-4 by Strathroy
Rockets at Strathroy in a WOAA
Intermediate "A" hockey fixture.,
Tomorrow night,the Sailors will
be out to seek revenge when they
are slated to meet the Rockets in
a game here.
For Don Enims, the game was
a double victory. He had the dis-
tinction of coaching the Rockets to
the win over the local Sailors, the
team he coached to the WOAA
"A" title last year.
It was touch and go during the
first period, 'with, each team notch-
ing two counters.
Strathroy took a One -goal lead
in the second and the Rockets were
never headed from that p-oint on-
ward: They added two more goals
in the final frarrre to Goderich's
one.
