A Shelburne Tragedy.
Shelburne, Out, April 24.-A terrible:
tragedy occured this morning, about a
mile and a-lialf north of here, at the resi-
dence of one Thomas Morrison, a hereto-
fore respectable farmer, Mrs. Morrison
heel gene away from home for a couple
of days to visit a sick sister, leaving her
husband with five eldielren the eldest, a,
girl of thirteen years of age, and the others
ranging in age down to a bright little lad
of a couple of snmulere. The youngest.
slept with his eldest sister, When the
latter awoke this morning she was aur-.
prised to fiud that he was not by her aide.
She went in search for him, and to her
horror found the little boy stiff in death,
laid out upon a quilt oil the iriteben floor.
Beside hits lay the bodies of his sieter,
aged five, and Iris brother, aged seven.
A barrei, half full of water, stood in one
corner of the room, By the dripping of
the water on the floor the tale was told of
their death by drowning. Morrison
could not be found. On a table in the
dining•room was a cup strongly smelling
of carbolic acid and an ounce bottle of the
drugs two-thirds full, This neighborhood
being aroused and deligentsearoh sustituted
the murderer was fonud writhing in agony
an the beaks of a creek a quarter of a mile
from his house. There was evidenoe of a
terrible struggle. The poor unfortunate
had thrown himself into the water, rolling.
from bank to lienk,in his agony, the muddy
soil being worked =mettle and bearing the
deep imprints of his body. Morrison,
who was speechless, was at once borne to
his desolate home.
Dr. Norton, coroner, was sent for
(upon his arrival he need the stomach'
pump and administered antidotes, hue he
died on Monday.
Mrs. Morrison, broken hearted, has
just ratarned to the sad home. No reason
eau be assigned for,xhe awtni act. Tem-
porary insanity must be the only expian•
ation. Morrison had always been a katal
