the Huron -County Pioneer Museum
in Goderich .this year. t.
]Marking •the occasion, her ano-
ther, Mrs. Marjorie Borne, has
Written the, following poem; •
Dear Editor of The • Sinal -Star„,
We Manic you, Saar, whoe'er yotu are
For the copy we received today,
48000 ,, the. headlines say.
My daughter thrilled, to see her
name
E'en thou ja misspelled,' she telt
the fame.
So thanks again for The Signal -
Star,
Dear Mister Ed., whoe'er you are.
Our day at Goderteh we enjoyed,
Had just One cause to be annoyed.
Will tell you of 'it later on,
But first of all 1 sing this song.
We found your • town a peaceful
place,
Uniquely quaint with eartivheel
face. •
At anchor parks with harbor vie
We felt His presence ever new.
At a little place we stopped for
food,
f ps _ with....fish.... and., it was good.
We shopped and courteous service
found,.
Then for an hour we toured
around.
Nice homes, and schools, and
churches, too,
And lovely scenery met our view.
But the place our heart sang the
Te. Deum
Was Huron County's own Museum.
We stayed at' least two hours or
More,
Scrutinizing every floor.
The flour -display! -The. clocks -l -
The reels!
The things • set up with turning
wheels!
Two -headed calf! The birds and
snakes!
The ploughs and shovels, axes,
rakes!
Piano, organs, coffins, too!
Dresses, shirts, old desks and new!
Coins and Bibles,- pots and peelers!
Even the jail for old time stealers!
Tell Mr. Neill, the curator there,
As 8000th visitor we liked his'fair.
And thank him for the time he
took
To explain it as we stopped to
look.
At home now, comes this old re-
frain—
.",Please Mum, let us go again."
The annoying part? Don't want to
preach,
But it?s glass one finds upon the
beach,
Where children love to romp and
play, ° ra—
"A bee to clean it up!" I'd spay.
Then place a can—"For broken
glass,
Deposit same please, as you pass."
No picture seems so full of woe
As child .at..piay with bleeding toe.
And now, -goodbye, dear Mister Ed,
Your praise I've sung and beef I've
said.
Goderich we liked—Jack and me
Margaret, Dave and Rob — our
three.
Another year we. shall return,
With best of wishes, Marjorie.
Boorne.

The importance of controlling
Bacterial Ring Rot disease in
potatoes is emphasized by the
Field CropeBraneh• of the Ontario
Department of Agriculture which
is again this year, at the request
of grower organizations, providing
an inspection service of commerc-
ial fields of potatoes. As the dis-

in the growing season when the
tops are still green, the service
will begin at once.
It is intended that all principal
potato producing areas in the Pro-
vince will ,be covered as thorough-
ly and as speedily as possible.
However, potato growers who wish
to make sure that their crops ,1vi11
be given attention may advise
their local Agricultural Represent-
ative or forward their request
directly to the Field Crops Branch,
Ontario Department of Agricul-
ture, Parliament Buildings, Tor-
onto.
During 1946 there were 673 in-
cidences of Bacterial Ring Rut
disease reported in Ontario. This
number was reduced to 181 Last
year with losses reduced, many
thousands of dollars.- This year it
is hoped to reuce the loss still
further.
