TRADES AND LABOR EXECUTIVE
DENNIS FINCHER, President.
The fourth game between Gode-
rich Dodgers and Hanover Legion-
ettes in the WOAA ladies' softball
finals was played at Hanover on
Monday night, when the Dodgers
blanked their opponents and garn-
ered 10 runs for themselves.
Previous games in the best -of -
seven series were all taken by
the Dodgers — on August 30 in
Goderich by a score of 6 to 5; at
Hanover on Septemlber 1 with a
6-5 score in ten -innings; and in
Goderich on September 3 with an
6-3 count.
This should have finished the
championship series, but the Han-
over management disputed an um-
pire's decision in last Friday
night's game in Goderich and
lodged a protest with the WOAA
executive. Rather than go to the
trouble of opposing the protest,
the Dodgers agreed to replay the
game, Manager MacDonald stating
that his team preferred settling
the matter on the diamond to
winning by an off -the -field deci-
sion. Accordingly the play-off
game_ was fixed for Wednesday
night of this week.
Presuming that the Dodgers take,
this game and the WOAA champ-
ionship, they will begin .a best -of, -5,
five series with , the Florence
Chicks in the Ontario Amateur
Softball Association (OASA), the
first game to be played at Florence.

Kay McKinnon was in fine form
for the Labor Day encounter at
Hanover and allowed only three
hits., while her team -nates •gave
her 16 -hit support. Every Dodger
had at least one hit, Dorothy and
AudreyMcCabe each scoring three
and `Mike" Hartlin contributing
a brace of triples.

Goderich )Midgets were defeat-
ed 6-1 by Paris last Friday after-
noon, in Paris, and were eliminated
from the OBA Midget "J3" play -
downs.
Once again it was errors that
proved to be the downfall for the
local squad, as the Paris ninecame
up with only one earned run.
The locals, however, have had a
good season, wishing the WOAA
Midget' "B" crown.
