Revival Of Fall Fair
Hope Of Kinsmen Club
The annual fall fair, popular for many years with the people
of Goderich, may be revived.
That's the hope of the Kinsmen Club of Goderich„ in sponsoring
the big Trade Fair at the Goderich Memorial Arena and Agricultural
Park on August 18, 1.9, 20 and 21.
. 'kinsmen Sponsor , 0
The agricultural fall fair was program with one entire day de -
dropped in Goderich a number of voted to agricultural events.
years ago, and little hope was seen The final day of the fair, Satur-
of it ever being started up again day, August 21, has been set aside
-until a couple of months ago, when as Rural Day, and it is expected
the Kinsmen decided to sponsor a that events will attract farmers
trade fair. from all part of Huron County.
Goderich fall fair was always
held at Agrioulturai'Park, and the
place lends itself very well to the
various events which will , be
staged. '
Farm Judging
For instgfice, there •is adequate
space for the judging of. farm pro-
duce, livestock and poultry which
will be conducted by Junior Farm-
ers, 4-H and garden clubs from
various sections of Huron... County.
Then there is..a safety tractor driv-
ing contest in which rural residents
will be given an opportunity to
show their "tractor -driving abilities.
Actually, the trade fair has a
program which will appeal ' to
young and old alike.
And, diverting a bit from the
usual type of fall fair, the Kinsmen
Trade Fair, will have a program
each night, rather than just one
night. ..Oh Wednesday, Thursday
and Friday nights there will be
variety programs in the arena, and
on the final night there "will be a
stage show in front of the grand-
stand at Agricultural Park as well
The arena, Vacant in the summer,.
was felt 'to be the ideal place for
a fair, since industries and mercti
ants could set up displays there.
At first„the Kinsmen decided
that the fair would be a three-day
one. Then, they started to arrange
the program and "to . sell space for
the various exhibits and found that
they would have to extend the fair
into a four-day event.
• A committee under the chairman-
ship of Lorne Wakelin went to
work on the project early in June
and received an excellent response
from, exhibitors.
Forty-four booths in the arena
and the parking lot outside were
grabbed up by merchants and in-
dustries within a short time;
includes Midway
The first trade fair to have been
undertaken by a'service club here,
the "Wade fair will include a Mid
way which will be situated on the
parking lot.
Part of the plan- to revive the
fall fair .is included in this year's') as in the arena.
