Evening entertainment on Friday
and Saturday at Auburn's centen-
ary celebrations drew good crowds.
On Friday night a large audience
was on hand for a 'concert present-
ed by a professional troupe—Gladys
Cornell and cast, who returned re-
cently from a successful tour of
England. Following the show there
was a •monster fireworks display
and a public dance.
Over 1,800 people were present
on Saturday night for_an Old Boys'
Concert, which 'featured Huron
'County's Harry Lauder, Harvey
'McGee and violinist Raymond Red-
mond.
One of the highlight's of the pro.
gram was a display of old time
dancing presented by The •Whirl-
poolers, of Goderich, Dr. and Mrs.
W. N. Watters, Mr. and ,Mrs.
Gordon McManus, Mr. and Mrs.
'George Filsinger and Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Curry.
• Harry Sturdy presided for the
program. Other presentations in-
cluded: accordian solo, Mr. Hend-
rick, Belgrave; girls' chorus; selec-
tion by Bruce's Orchestra; solos,
James Bonthron, Hensall;. West-
field Male Quartette; reading, Mrs.
Donald Sprung; violin solos, Robert
Gibbs, Hamilton:, solos, Ray Dalton,
Kingsbridge; trio, Mrs. Harry Wor-
sell, Mrs. George Wilkin, William
S. Craig; demonstration of jitter-
bugging.. A short address was
given by Keith Arthur.
Accompanists were •Mrs. R. • J.
Phillips, Mrs. Wilfred Plunkett,
Mrs: W. J. Craig and Mrs. M. Mc-
Donald. An old time hoedown
ended the evening.
During the program a draw was
made for a hand -painted picture
donated to the Women's Institute
by Mrs. Maud Fremlin. Holder of
the winning ticket was Mrs. 'Wil:
liam Patterson.
