A pretty spring wedding was
solemnized at the Knox Presbyter-
ian Church_ Chapel, Goderich, when -
Ruth Agnes Stokes, only daughter
of Charles Stokes; Goderich, and
the late Mrs. Stokes, became the
bride of Gerald Frederick Smith,
Wingham, son of Mrs. Archibald
MacDonald, Wingham, and the late
Charles Smith, formerly of Gode-
rich.
Rev. R. G. MacMillan officiated,
and the organist was Frank Bisset,
Goderich.
1 Given in marriage by her.father,
the bride wore a strapless ballet
gown of white net over satin. The
pleated bodice was topped by a
short sleeved jacket, and her wrist -
length veil was held in place by
a lace cap. She carried a Colonial
nosegay of^ pink roses and ivy
leaves.
Mrs. George Robertson, Carlow,
as matron of honor chose a strap-
less ballet length gown of yellow
embossed organdy, wit wik matching
bolero and cap and carried a nose-
gay of mauve carnations.

Following the ceremony • a re-
ception was held at the home of
the bride's parents, ; which was
deorated with white wedding bells
and spring flowers. The bride's
mother received in a gown of delt
phinium blue lace and crepe with
navy accessories and a corsage of
pink roses. The groom's mother
assisted, wearing a gown of white-
printed
hiteprinted taffeta with navy and white
accesosries, white knitted stole and
a corsage of red roses.
For a wedding trip to Lake
Placid, N.Y., and, points south, the
bride donned a navy dress with
white trim and matching reversible
duster, navy accessories and a cor-
sage of pink roses. The costume
was designed for her by a member
of the Stratford Shakesperian
Festival, where she is employed,

ated with white blossoms, pink
tulips and fern, was the scene of
a pretty May wedding last Satur-
day at 2 , p.m., when Rev. D. J.
Martin, at a double ring ceremony,
united in marriage Marilyn Anne
Parrish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley J. Parrish, of Listowel, and
John Ronald Franklin Skelton, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Skelton, of
Goderich.
The bride looked charming in a
floor -length strapless gown of white
nylon net over satin, shirred -bodice
and festooned skirt .over crinoline
and hoop skirt, with pointed long-
sleeved matching bolero. Her
fingertip illusion .veil . was held .in
place by a coronet of seed and
tear drop pearls. She carried a
bouquet of pink. sweetheart roses
and lily of the valley. A diamond
heirloom pendant and matching
earrings , completed her ensemble.
She was attended by 'Mrs. Doug,
Kilpatrick, Stouffvilie,' as matron
of honor, and Miss Sylvia Skelton,
Goderich, as bridesmaid, who wore
identically -styled floor -length strap-
less gowns of blue nylon net over
taffeta with fitted shirred bodices
and tiered bouffant skirts. Bolero,
and mitts with matching headdress,
outlined in flowers, completed the
ensembles. They carried bouquets
of pink and blue sweetheart roses.
Miss Jacqueline Vallance, Cen-
tralia, niece of the bride, was -flow-
er girl and wore a floor -length
dress of pink nylon net over taffeta
with matching bandeau. _._She car-
ried. a nosegay of pink and ' blue

Given iri marriage by her father,
the bride wore a gown of ivory
taffeta. A sweetheart neckline en-
hanced with motifs of bugle -beads
and pearls fashioned the long
sleeved molded bodice. From the
nipped waist, the floor -length skirt
fell in soft fullness ending in a
chapel train. A fingertip veil was.
held by an embroidered coronet.
She carried a prayerbook arrange -

stephanotis.

Ruth Reid, maid of honor, Miss Joy
Peach and Miss Margaret Mac-
Nabb, bridesmaids. With their
dresses of aqua nylon taffeta, bal-
lerina length, they wore bandeaux
of white sweet peas and. carried
cascade bouquets of the same
flowers.
William Reid was groomsman.
Robert Sheard and Dr,` Ross Mc-
Neill were ushers.
After„ a buffet supper at the
home of the bride's .parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Reid left on a motor trip.
The bride wore a navy shantung
suit with white accessories.

After a lapse of one year, mon-
ster bingos are back in Goderich
again. On Friday night, June 4,
the Goderich Lions Club starts its
first •bingo , of the year . at the
Memorial Arena. Admission price
has been lowered yet hundreds of
dollars will be given away ih prizes.
Entire proceeds go for Lions com-
riiunity work.•

of the Harbinson Trophy for public
speaking at the annual District One
convention of Kinsmen- held in
Windsor over the week -end.
Mr. Such, who won an elimina-
tion public speaking competition
here last month' at the Northern
Zone convention for the right to
compete at Windsor, defeated two
other candidates for the trophy.
