Pur eral servites were held Sat-
urday, afternoon at Exeter for Mrs.
John II. Cole, 84, mother of Arthur
Ia. Cole of Goderich. Mrs. Cole
died at the home of a son, Fred,
at Exeter. Rev. A. E. Holley con-
ducted the services at the Hopper -
Hockey Funeral Home. Interment
was in the Exeter Cemetery.
She was born in Hibbert Town-
ship, and was the former Margaret
J. Hackney. After her marriage
she and her husband farmed at
Lumley until retiring 32 years ago,
and moving to Exeter. She was a
member of Main Street United
Church.. Her .huslhand died seven
years ago.
Surviving are two sons, Fred,
Exeter; Arthur L., Goderich; and
one ,sister, Miss Alice Hackney,
Exeter. z�

Piano competition, featuring
Bach classes, brought 'the 13th an-
natal

iual 'Huron. County Music Festival
to :a ,close last Friday' evening at
the Goderich Public . School Audi-
torium. -
• Excellent crowds attended the
four-day event and hailed it as one
of the • best io the musical history -
of Goderich.
Tribute to .the Festival Associ-
ation as paid, . at the closing on
Friday night by Cyril Hampshire,
director of Musio in Hamilton
schools,- who adjudicated the com-
petitions.
Mr. Hampshire also thanked . the
association for co-operation and
commended the music teachers and
supervisors in and around Gode-
rich for their -work and interest.
On Thursday afternoon, Mr.
Hampshire had praised the com-
petitors in the girl's vocal solo, 11
years ad under class, which was
won by Mary Hay, of Goderich.
He spoke about this class again on
the closing evening and said he
had .heard "some' of the most de-
lightful singing it has ever been
My privilege to hear." He added
that in his opinion it had been the
most outstanding class of the
whole festival. •
