GODERICII, ONTARIO, THURSDAY, APRIL tith, 1954.
A talk on the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization (NATO), given
by Squadrqn Leader George Bury,
of the RCAF - Station at 'Clinton,
featured. a meeting of North. Street
United Church Men's Club on Mon-
day evening.
Squadron Leader Bury gave his
impressions of NATO, telling of
the development .of the organiia-
tion following the Second World
War. In July, 1950, he said, Can-
ada started to fulfill her obligations
to NATO and was the first of any
of the NATO countries to meet her
military commitment ,and did so
ahead of schedule.
He said he felt that NATO was a
far more important organization at
the present tiria-e—thari-the Vilited7
Nations in keeping peace. Can-
ada's share in the NATO movement
is costly, he said, but it is cheap
insurance against war.
