Auction Sale '
At the auction sale concluding
the fair • en Saturday afternoon,
Dougias McNeil, of Carlow, paid
$14 for the grand. champion entry
of a half bushel of red clover
grown by Luther Sanders, of Sea -
forth, who was runner-up in the
competition. ;
Nelson` Patterson, of Auburn,
)urcha"sed a 1Q -bushel lot 'of Larain
oats, grown by -the champion of
the fair, Merton Keyes, of R.R. 3,
Seaforth. ,Mr. Patterson paid $19
for the lot.
The auctipp was one of the big
attractions of the fair, and the
panel ;, discussion drew a " record
crowd
Prior to the °auction sale, prizes'
were presented to the 29 boys from
the county who took part in the
Junior Farther seed judging coin -
petition,' with Harold Baker, assist-
ant agricultural representative of
Huron Counity', . in,'+charge.. Six
seniors, between the ages of 20 and..
30 years, and 23 juniors, under 20
years, judged a class of wheat, oats,
barley and two classes of small
seeds, weed and.. weed seed identi-
fication... and_ a,,grass-seedsdentifica
tion. Total ; score was 800 points.
' Wins 'Trophy
The Huron County Crop Improve-
ment Association trophy was "pre-
sented to Frank Alton; R.R. 7,
Lucknow by Warden W. J. Dale, as
the" junior making the highest
score, with 740 points. A similar
trophy was presented -.by Russell
Belton, R.13,. 1,, -Dublin, president of
the association, to Earl' McSpadden,
R.R. 1, Seaforth, as the senior,
making the highest score, with 765
points. '
Runners-up in the senior section
were Laverne Godkin; R.R. 3, Wal-
ton, 743 •points; John Clarke, '•R.R.-
5, Goderich, '724; Eric, Anderson,
