Mrs. Mary ---P. Chaffee, superin- tendent of the Society, told council its her report that last year the society -was interested -in 156 ehild: ren in 54 families and now has 74 children in its care.. Twenty-four children were 'placed in adoptive homes and 27 final adoptions were completed. The society made 5,060 visits, had 2,694 intervieWs, attended 119 conferences, gave 15 addresses, 6"traVelled--38,664 'miles, and made 183 court attendances. • During- a layover on a recent week -end trip, we overheard the ticket agent make assurances that a certain train would be on time.
