OBITUARY
miss NORA O'REILLY
Burial of Miss Nora Vitality, who
died in , Buffalo, ,N.Y., . took place
last Thursday at the Wigton• Cath-
olic cemetery in Colborne Town-
ship. Rev. J4 P. Gleeson, of St.
Peter's Church, officiated.
Miss O'Reilly was a daughter of
the late Michael and Margaret
O'Reilly, who had lived on Victoria
street Forthe-past sevaralgears
she had. resided with he late
sister, Mary, .in Buffalo, who was

he believed that he was the first
Warden of Huron County' to be on
TV. When he mentioned this to
county councillors, he said, they
humorously quipped, "Oh, that was
the black spot that came over the,
TV screen atIT a.m." For this re-
mark,. he fined—each member of
county council one dollar, to be
donated to the Goderich Lions
Club, in accordance with the usual
procedure for the night.

Huron County Children's Aid So-
ciety told County Council in its
annual report last Thursday that

nine new wardship actions.
Mrs. Mary ---P. Chaffee, superin-
tendent of the Society, told council
its her report that last year the
society -was interested -in 156 ehild:
ren in 54 families and now has 74
children in its care.. Twenty-four
children were 'placed in adoptive
homes and 27 final adoptions were
completed.
The society made 5,060 visits,
had 2,694 intervieWs, attended 119
conferences, gave 15 addresses,
6"traVelled--38,664 'miles, and made
183 court attendances. •
During- a layover on a recent
week -end trip, we overheard the
ticket agent make assurances that
a certain train would be on time.
One -man, after pacing the:Station
platform for more than an hour,
stalked angrily -to the ticket win-
dow.
"Why didn't you tell me this
was late when 1 aske4 you
before?" he fumed.
"Look here, Mister," replied the
complacent agent, "I ain't paid to
sit here and knock the railroad."
