The agent of the society, Rev. S. G. Livingstdne, B. A. of South Wocdslee, addressed the meeting on Bible Society and rte works, and gave a short sketch of the history of the English bible. Addresaes were also given by the resident clergymen. The Treasurer's re- port showed that over $58 had been raised for the society during the past year. -On Monday evening the Young People's Mutual Improvement Society, held an open meeting fa the Presbvtetian tie uroh. The program ooneieted of solos and quartettes which were 'well rendered and appreciated by the audi- ence, and a lecture on "Four Months in Germany," by Bon. J. 0. Tibb of Sarnia. The Bev. It was a rare sight to see eleven wagons in succession, with saw- logs, coming into the village one evg.- Mr Freid, formerly a resident of Dash- wood, but now in Stratford, is visiting friends here. -Last Saturday and Sun- day quarterly meeting services were conducted in the evangelical church, Rev S N Moyer of Stratford presided. On Sunday evening he preached in English to a lame audience. A number of Zurich friends were present, Revs. Bauch and 'Yaeger are still conducting protracted services on the Fourteenth line. We hear that they are having success. -A certain man who calls him- self a horse doctor is making a tour through this part of the country. The horses seem to be all well though. Li mviile. Bakes -Mr. Wm Bray, jr., and Jessie Delbridge of this vicinity, left on Tuesday last for Manitoba, intending to make it their adopted home. Mr. Bray spent last summer there and has purchased a farm near Virden. Mr. Delbridge is a new re- cruit. They are both 'steady, reliable young men, and are the right kind of eini- grants. They can furnish the bone and smile, and better still, they are men with moral stamina, -Dir Wm Bray has sold his house and lot in the village to Mr. S. Station. We are glad that Elimville is not to be entirely depopulated, and heart- ilywelcome the newcomer. -The concert held here on Friday evening last was well - attended and fairly successful. The Har- mouica Orchestra 'took," especially with the boys. They were encored every time. The Glee Club also came in for a good deal of fever. Taken altogether the even: ing's program was very intertaining, and was. well appreciated. Proceeds $22. -The anniversary sermons of Elimville church will he preached on Sunday next, by Rev. G H Thompson of. Centralia at the usual hours. Collections at the close of each service in, aid of church fund.
