Fag. Forum He
For the first time in its 13 years'
existence, a woman was appointed
a chairlady in the Huron County
Farm Forum. Mrs. Gordon Greig,
representing Turnberry.Township,
was elected to that position at the
annual rally and banquet at Lon-
desboro. The wife of the secre-
tary-fieldman of the County Feder-
ation of Agriculture, Mrs. Grt.Ig
succeeds Charles Coultes, Be'grave.
Members of the county com-
mittee are Cecil Falconer, West
Wawanosh Township; Albert
Coultes, East Wawanosh Township;
Howard Wilkinson, Morris Town-
ship; Ross Knight, Grey Township;
Robert 'McMillan, McKillop Town-
ship; Mrs. George Carter, Hullett
Township; Irwin Tebbutt, Goderich
Township; Mrs. Ross Dick, Hay
Township; Elmer Powell, Stephen
Township; J. Alfred, Usborne
Township.
Presiding at . the banquet and
meeting was Charles Coultes. There
Iwere 24 forums represented and
six county co-operatives as well as
(representatives of the county fed-
eration present. The banquet was
catered by members of the Londes-
boro Women's Institute. Guest
speaker was Clifford Waite, -Tor-
onto,, secretary -manager of the On-
tario Farm Forums, who remarked
how farm forums improve com-
munities in which they are organ-
ized.
He stated that• the failure of
some forums is caused by meetings
being prolonged, or by members
"euchring" themselves to death
with playing cards, or by one fam-
ily trying to outdo 'the next by
elaborate lunches, . with the result
that some families quit because
they go beyond their means.
A program was provided by Mrs.
Carl Oestreicher, Dashwood; Sam
Scott, Seaforth; Bobby Campbell,
R.R. 1, Dublin; and with Mrs. O.
B. Moffatt, Bluevale, at the' piano.
A similar banquet will be held'
next year. .
NEW TRAFFIC. SIGNAL
FOLLOWING COLLISION.
Replacement of a traffic signal
at the- intersection of Victoria
street and Elgin avenue loas made
by workmen on 'Monday.
The light was knocked down re-
cently when a car driven by Doug-
las Whitfield, of Goderich; collided
with it. ,Police said the car went
out of control when a steering
wheel connection broke.
At a recent meeting of Town
Council, Mayor J. E. Huckins was
critical of the delay in having the
light replaced. Ile also criticized
police .for not reporting to the
Town Hall arrangements for re-
placing the signal. Since the
driver of the car is a member of
the Outside Provincial Poll',e, the
mayor said. he felt that Totra Balt
should have received a report. -.
