__A very enjoyable" afternoon was
spent on Wednesday last at the
home of .Mrs. Elton Draper when
the Ladies' Guild of Christ Church
met for their September meeting.
The October meeting will he held
at the home of Mrs. Roy Petrie.
Pirates Finish Season.—The Port
Albert Pirates ball team finally had
to hang their mitts up for another
season, having been eliminated by
the Formosa` team `-ori Thursday
evening of last week by the score
of 3 to 1. This Port teals had a
very good season, having won their
own group championship and then
eliminating the Ripley...tearn. The
series` with Formosa were hard
fought games, also with the opposi-
tion .winning . three games to one
in the best .of five.

fortune tostep elf a chair while
working at Robert Turner's and
fractured his leg.. He is now a
patient in Clinton hospital. ;

Services will be held in St. Mark's
Anglican . Church. _next_Sunday at
11 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. (Standard
Time). In the morning the rector;
Rev. W. E. Bramwell, will bring
the message. In the evening, Rev.
H. Parker, Rural Dean of Wing -
ham, "will be the guest speaker.
There will be special music.

gratulations go to our Juvenile
"D" baseball team which won
the O.B.A. championship at
Bolton. They are • the same
group who were successful
last year also in capping the
O.B.A.. Midget "D" champion-'"
ship.

Patterson "deserve much credit
for ' their time and interest
with such a fine group of
athletes.

has resumed his studies at Toronto
Uniygrsity. At the close of the
service . Sunday morning, members
of the Session and members of
the congregation voiced words of
appreciation for the splendid work
Mr. Milne had done during his
time here. Next Sunday Mr.
Peter -Walter, student of Western
University will have charge of the
service.
Knox United Anniversary.—Suc-
cessful anniversary services were
held in Knox United Church, Sun-
day, when Rev. Glen Eagle, B.A.,
B.D., of Clinton was guest speaker
and preached two impressive ser-
mons. The choir, with Mrs. R. D.
Munro presiding at the organ, and
Miss Margaret A. Jackson at the
piano led, in the service of song.
At the morning service the choir
rendered a number and Mrs. Em-
merson Rodger and Aubrey Toll
sang a duet. At the evening ser-
vice • the pastor, Rev. C. C. Wash-
ington, was present and was in
charge. The choir rendered an
anthem anti Rev. G. Eagle rendered
a solo. The church was decorated
with baskets of autumn flowers.
Miss Vera Sclater of St. Marys
and Mrs. Richard Taylor, Chatham',
visited Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Lawson,

. The regular meeting of Nile
W.A. was held in the church Tues-
day, September 8. Mrs. A. Kerr
presided and opened the meeting.
Scripture reading was by Mrs.
Howard Johnston. The topic and
prayer was given by Mrs. Robert
Bogie. Roll call was ,answered by
13 members. Minutes sere read.
Business period followed. Plans
ere made for a bazaar in late
October. Hostesses were Mrs.
Herb -Pentland, Mrs. Les Pentland
and Mrs.' Dave McDiarmid.
Miss Jessie Wallace, Goderich,
is "visiting friends at Nile.

WESTFIELD, Sept: 23.—Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Carter and Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Campbell were Lon-
don Fair visitors on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Kennedy of
Bridgeport, accompanied by the
latter's mother, Mrs. J. E. Ford,
visited on Saturday at the home
of Mrs: Frank Campbell, Mrs. Ford
remaining for a longer visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Walden and
Garth, Mr. Wm. Walden and Mrs.
Walter Cook were London visitors
on Thursday. Mrs. Cook remained
in London to visit friends until
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bosman
for the coming year with a good
attendance. New officers elected
are: Past president, Marie - An-
drews; president, Ruth Andrews;
vice-president, Kenny Haggitt;
secretary, Shirley Daer; treasurer,
Bill Dobie. The leaders are: Mrs.
F. O. McIlveen, Mrs. Don Baines
and Mrs. Ed. Davies. Business
.and projests were discussed for
the coming year. -
