County and District
Through these portals of the CoderieIt District Collegiate
Institute passed 400 students -on Tuesday to start another teTin
of school. The collegiate this year has approximately the sant e
number of students in attendance as at the beginning of last
year. Slightly larger enrolments were experieueed in Grades
IX and X.

DUNGANNON, Sept. 9.—Harold
Blake and nephew, Jimmy Blake,
accompanied by the former's sister,
-Mrs: Ben Comfort, and , Mr. Com-
fort, of St. Catharines, are enjoy-
ing a month motoring to the Pacitie
Coast, visiting relatives and friends
at some places.
Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Culbert had
their two grandchildren for a
week's holidays last week. They
were Neta Sherwood, Carlow, and
Lois Crawford, of Wingham.
Mrs. Don Cole and little daugh-
ter, Lynda, of Vancouver, have
been visiting their aunt, Mrs. Otto
Popp.
Mr. and Mrs. Chester Durnin
and daughter, Marjorie, of Pitts-
burg, Pa., returned home last week
after a visit with their parents,.

Mr. and Mrs. Jevkow Trifuno-
vitch, of Fergus, who were em-
ployed with W. A. Culbert and

Mrs. R. Irvin gave an iiutline• of
the study book, for the band. A
program was given by little tots of
the Baby Band and other members
from the Mission Band. In the
absence of Mrs. Otto Popp, Baby
Band superintendent, Mrs. Cecil
Blake and Mrs. R. Irvin conducted
the promotion to the Mission Band,
receiving certificates and pin,;.
Mrs. Finnigan thanked all who took
part. After the roll call and min-
utes, Mrs. G. Hodges read a paper
on Christian Stewardship. The
meeting closed with the benedic-
tion and lunch was served.

Miss Josephine Woodcock has
completed forty years- as operator
for the Blyth municipal telephone
system. She began her service
with the system three years after
it was established in 1910.
Mrs. Duncan Sitlpson of Kintait
has been appointed music super-
visor by the Ashfield School Area
Board. She will give -musicin-
struction to sixteen schools in the
township.

the theft of nearly $1,000 in cash
from the office of the town clerk
at Clinton. The money was the
operty of J. W. Manning, tax
collector, and was in a locked cash-
box.
Signs have been erected in
Zurich with the names of the vil-
lage streets, the work having been
done by the Zurich Chamber of
Commerce.
Farmer Killed -
by Overturned Tractor
Jack Merrier, 37 -year-old farmer
of the Zurich district, was killed
ahnost instantly when the tractor
he was driving overturned and
pinned him down. Surviving are
his wife and three children.

No one was injured but damage
was high in a traffic accident on
No. 8 *Highway Tuesday afternoon.
Police said a careless driving
charge was pending against Allen
Peacock, of Preslon, as a result of
the accident, which apparently oc-
curred when Peacock attempted to
pass, a car going in the same direc-
tion and sideswiped a truck pro-
ceeding in the opposite direction.
The truck was driven by William
Le, of Clinton. Damage to the
Peacock vehicle was estimated at
$1,000.

on Labor Day as he. was getting

for Robert Harvey Robinson, who
died the previous Monday morning
at the hcmie of las son, Stuart
Robinson, Goderich, after an ill-
ness of only three days.
Mr. Robinson was 77 years of
age. For many years he followed
the trade of harnessmaker at Lon-
desboro and Blyth before retiring
