East Wawanosh Township Coun-
cil hasagreed to pay seven per
cent of the capital expenditure to-
wards the proposed 50 -bed chronic
wing at the Wingham General Hos-
pital-
Council. however. attached to
their approval a $15.000 limit on

Maitland Air Cadet Squadron Starts
Annual Training Program September 9.
The staff of Na 532 Squadron,*
Maitland Air Cadets. have been
busy the last few weeks preparing
for the beginning of the coming
air cadet training year which be-
gins on September- 9 and operates
every ,Wednesday night.
The staff for the coming year
will consist of C.O. Max Cutt, F/O;
Adjutant Bill Hill. F/O; W. Legg,
supply; C. Banks, chief instructor;

F/O E. C. Rivett, radio; D. Mc-
Laren. fly training; W..J. John-
stone, armament; K. Pennington,
discipline; R. Craig, drill. and F.
Wood, engines.
A complete training program has
been designed to appeal to each
cadet. Major subjects are radio.
engines and flying. During the
course of the training year, cadets
will be on the air with a "ham"
radio set bequeathed by the late
Group Captain Hutton. Various
flights will be arranged and special
courses offered annually at no cost
to the cadet. such as, flying scholar-
ships, university scholarships, sum -

FOR J. A. SUTHERLAND
Funeral service was held last
Friday for J. Arthur Sutherland.
who died on Wednesday of last
week- The service was held in
the Lodge funeral home chapel
and conducted by Rev. D. W. Wil-
liams, of Victoria Street United
Church., Interment was in Mait-
land cemetery.
Pallbearers were Howard McNee,
Ernest Pridham, Neil Witmer,
John Craig, Clayton Edward and
Clarence Johnson.

Convict Two Men
of Hullett Theft
Acquitted of theft -of a quantity
of copper lightning wire from a
Hullett Township farm, Fergus Mc=
Kay and Walter Bezeau, both of
Clinton, were convicted of a sim
ilar theft from another farm by
Magistrate D. E: Holmes. Q.C., in
police court last Thursday.
Each was fined $25 and costs or,
30 days in jail.
Evidence had been heard a week
previously on the charge of theft
from the farm of Wilfrtd Plunkett,
and the Magistrate had reserved
his decision.
The two were found guilty of
theft of wire valued at under $25
from the farm of Robert Jack
Snell, of Hullett Township.
Mr. Snell testified that after his
(tarn had been destroyed by fire
on July 14, two men came to his
farm the following day to ask if
he had any scrap metal. He identi-
fied the men as McKay and Bezeau
and. said that he had not author-
ized them to take the wire.
In 'the previous hearing, wit-
nesses had told of seeing the two
accused in the vicinity of the
Snell farm on the night of Jul} 19,
I the approximate date on which the
wire was alleged to have been
stolen.
No evidence was offered by de-
fence. counsel, Frank Donnelly,

Court Levies Fines
On Three Drivers

Three drivers were convicted of
careless driving and one was ac-
quitted by Magistrate D. E. Holme_;.
Q.C.. in police court here last
Thursday.
1L Keith Revell, of Goderich,
pleaded not guilty and was ac-
quitted. of a charge arising out
of a traffic accident at Bayfield
on August 12 in which the car he
was driving was involved with a
vehicle driven by Robert Coleman,
of Bayfield. The accused was re-
presented by R. C. Hays, Q.C.
James Everett Redmond, of the
RCAF, pleaded guilty to a charge
of careless driving and was tined
510 and costs or one week.
Clarence LeBeau, of R.R. 5, Clin-
ton, received a fine of. S10 and
costs or one week when found
guilty on a charge arisinia out �f
an accident on No. 2 1 Highway
north of Goderich on July • 11- A
truck driven by LeBeau was i
collision with a car driven by Wil-
liam Donald. of London.
Clare McBride, of Zurich, plead-
ed not guilty to charges of impair-
ed and careless driving. He was
acquitted on the impaired charge
and fined $15 and -costs or 10 days
on the second. The charge arose.
out of an' accident on July 31 .11

off the highway and hit a hydro
pole, snapping it off.
