WOMEN SUSTAIN SHOCK
FROM BARE HYDRO WIRE
Contact with a bare 550 -volt elec-
tric wire gave severe shocks to two
women at the harbor late Wednes-
day of last week, but both escaped
harm.
The women, Mrs. Mabel Gray
and Janice Argyle, of Goderich,
had just completed a swim across
the channel from the south to
north pier and were climbing out
of the water when they+-c,Ame in
contact with the wire.
Mrs. Gray was tossed ' back into
the harbor and Miss Argyle was
thrown onto the dock and then
jumped back into the water to
avoid further shock.
Noticing sparks, Bert MacDonald
and Jim Reid rushed across the
channel in a boat to give aid. The
women, who had grabbed a piece
of timber which acted as an insul-
ator, were brought ashore in a
dazed condition but they did not
require medical treatment.
The hydro line, which supplies
power to the radio beam at the
end of the north dock, was re
paired immediately.

ASK POLICE TO CHECK
SWEWALK BICYCLISTS
Goderich detachment police have
been asked by town council to
check youngsters driving their bi-
cycles on sidewalks.
A town by-law prohibits such
practise, although lately some
,children seem to have been ignor-
ing the ruling.
Several complaints have been re-
ceived by council lately from pedes-
trians who complain that they have
almost been hit by youngsters
driving bicycles , along sidewalks.,
