THE VOICE OF BETHEL
REV. HOWARD E. MINAKER
CHANGING or UNCHANGING WORD
The Duke of Wellington was approached by an officer to
complain of a general. The Duke listenedin silence. Present-
ly he inquired, "Did the general say he would hang you if the
rations were not there by twelve o'clock?" "Yes, your Grace,"
replied the officer. "Are you sure he said he would hang you?"
"He' did, indeed, your Grace," replied the officer, thinking a
severe rebuke was in store fozr his ,superior. "Well," said the
Duke, "T know the general very well,- and I know he is a man of
his word. If I were in your place h should take care to have
the rations there," The officer went away and the rations were
there punctually at twelve o'clock: .
In. Psalm 119:89 we read 'Por ever -0 Lord Thy Word is
settled in Heaven and verse 161 "My heart standeth in awe
of ,Thy Word."
If the word of fallible man can be classed as sure, how
uch more the Word ,of the infallible. God.
There are prevalent ideas to -day which deceive many. It
is declared that when G9d's Word says HELL it means GRAVE
or the LAKE OF FIRE is a figure of speeeh and really means
"EXTINC'T'ION' OF BEING. It is further taught that being
BORN AGAIN as set forth emphatically by the Lord 'Jesus .,is
fulfilled by JOINING THE CHURCH OR DOING THE 'BES'T'
ONE CAN. Such teaching is as deceiving and perilous as the
word of Satan to Eve.
Persons propagating or accepting such perverted doctrine
are classed by God's Word as "DECEIVING THEMSELVES."
