THE VOICE OF BETHEL
REV. HOWARD E. MINAKER
•
1 have read that in the Evergreen Cemetery. near New
York. there stands a gravestone. Upon it is carved only one
beautiful word:"FORGIVEN." APparently there is no other in-
- -formation a vier iriarric-no-datClitilhltirbill- brie eatt be -Set 6.7-
Strictly speaking this otic word is very important_ Volumes
of biographical detail ruay be penned about a man concerning
his earthly life. but most people die "unsung and easily for-
gotten.** and when it comes to the narrow passage between time
and eternity. the all-important consideration is that this' one
enravishing solitary word may truthfully be engraved upon
the tombstone: -FORGIVEN..". That covers everything_
Names, dates and places sink into insignificance. For the
pardoned sinner the name is written in the Lambs Book of Life.
The date is registered in God's Records and theplaceis one
called Calvary,
Ttte-.sed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin
isc?vered Psalm 32:1.
This glorious word accompanies a definite experience when
one is converted. It must be written over aur life before we
die if we are to reach heaven.
Christ died that everyone might know the joy of sins
forgiven.
