PORT ALBERT PORT ALBERT, April 22.—Mr. and Mrs: Walter Tigert and daugh- ter, Isabel, and her friend, Miss Lorna Feagan, spent a few days rS,cently visiting with Mrs. Tigert's mother, Mrs. Elroot, at Albion, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Mahon and family have moved from this vicin- ity to a home at Sky Harbor. Mrs. Mary Dickson of Hamilton visited over last week -end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lednor. The April meeting of the W.M.S. and W.A. was held in the church, Wednesday of last week with eight members present. Mrs, Bert Craw- ford was in charge taking as her theme the Easter program. Mrs. Will Brown read the Scripture les- son. Mrs. Will Crawford gave a reading "Disciples in Clay," telling the different disposition of each. A, chapter in the study book was taken by Mrs. H. -Lednor. Mrs. Percy Graham and Mrs. Charles Crawford were appointed delegates to the Presbyterial meeting at North Street Church, Goderich. The roll . call was answered by a verse of Scripture. The Easter thank -offering was received. Mrs. Earl Bogie presided for the W.A. and opened the meeting with a hymn and led in prayer. The Scripture lesson was read by Mrs. Percy Graham. Arrangements were made for a bake sale to be held in the near future. Price was setona quilt previously quilt- ed that was on display. The meet- ing closed with the Mizpah bene- diction. JOHNSON—MORTON • The soft glow of candle light on spring flowers formed the setting in the Church of the Resurrection, London, when Donna June Morton and Gerald Walter Johnson ex- changed marriage vows with the Rev. The bride, given in marriage by :her father, wore a delphinium blue gabardine suit With navy and white accessories with a corsage of white COUNTY BRIEFS The death of Minnie Barker, wife of Amos Cornelius, White- church, occurred suddenly in the Wingham hospital on April 13. Mrs. Cornelius was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Barker of Colborne Township and was in her 64th year. Two sisters sur- vive, Mrs. Jas. Hueston of • Gode- rich and Mrs. Sam Westlake of Bayfield: Interment was in the Wingham cemetery. Ancient Fire Pumper for County Museum The fate of the small hand - power pumper the ownership of which was in dispute for some time has at last been settled by agreement - between the Clinton Town Council and Bert Gibbings, Clinton resident who had a claim upon• it. The pumper, used many years ago at Clinton fires, has been released to Mr. Gibbings, who is having it placed in the County Museum in Goderich. HOLMESVILLE HOLMESVILLE, April 22.—The regular meeting of the W.M.S. of Holmesville United Church was held in the Sunday school rooms With Mrs. Elmer Potter to charge. The meeting opened with Mrs. Potter giving the call to worship, followed by the singing of ,n hymn. Mrs. W. Yeo read the Scripture, followed by prayer. Mrs. Potter read an Easter story and a poem. An article was read by Mrs. Ninian Heard, and Mrs. E. J. Trewartha and ' Mrs. Leslie Jervis sang a duet., Mrs. Reg. Miller read a temperance article, and Mrs. M. G. Newton had an article off Chris- tian stewardship. The president, Mrs. Fred Mulholland, conducted the business period and the roll call was answered by "Easter Thoughts." It was announced that Mrs. Williams, wife of Rev. Wil- liams, of Victoria Street United Church, Goderich, would be guest speaker at the spring W.M.S. Thank -offering service on Sunday. April 26. Mrs. Leslie Jervis and Mrs. Frank McCullough were ap- pointed delegates to the Presby- terial to be held in North Street United Church, Goderich. The chapter in the study book was taken by Mrs. Frank McCullough. The meeting closed with a hymn, and ,prayer by Mrs. Potter. Fol- lowing the W.M.S. meeting, Mrs. Harry Cudmore, president of the W.A. of the church took the chair, and the W.A. meetiing opened with the theme song and repeating the creed. Mrs. Cudmore spoke a few words on Easter. Mrs. Eldon Yeo, Mrs. William Norman, Mrs. Harry Cudmore, Mrs. Lloyd. Bond, Mrs. Frank McCullough, Mrs. Jack Yeo and Mrs. Edward Grigg were ap- pointed members of committees to make arrangements „for the cater- ing the W.A. is to do in early May. Cornish Electric PHONE 141 WEST STREET 17 OBITUARY MISS ELEANOR MACKAY The death of Miss Eleanor Mac- kay occurred Sunday at Manhattan General Hospital, New York City, Miss Mackay was born in Ailsa Craig, -a daughter of the late John and Jessie Mackay and lived .in Goderich with her brother, Archie, who was. Canadian National Rail- way agent here for a 'number of years. She was a registered nurse, having trained in New York City. She is survived by three bro- thers, Archie, with the C.N.R. in Hamilton; Alex, in Pasedena. Calif.;George, in Blenheim;. and four sisters, Mrs. Ernest Warwick (Wilhelmena), in Blenheim; Mrs. Jules Collver (Margaret), of Akron, Ohio; Miss Grace Mackay, R.N., of New York City, and Mrs. Janet Knight, of Blenheim. A number of friends from Gode- rich attended the funeral held yes- terday afternoon from the home of her uncle and aunt, Archie and Joan Campbell, in Ailsa Craig. Chamney presiding and using the Easter program as given in the Mission- ary Monthly. Mrs. Gordon Naylor read the lesson, followed by prayer and the Lord's prayer in unison. Mrs. N. Thomposn read some verses entitled "A Housewife's Prayer." Mrs. S. Thompson read an article on Christian steward- ship. Mrs. H. Jefferson sang. The chapter in the study book was read by Mrs. E. Robinson. A bale of quilts, flannelette and clothing valued at $146.60 was packed for overseas relief. Lunch was served by 'Mrs. J. C. Robinson and Mrs. S. Thompson. Brimi- combe, Brock street. Mr. Edward Jenkin of Goderich has been named manager of Gbde- rich Dairy, recently purchased by R. S. Cousins of Brussels. Mr. John Flick has returned from, spending the winter months with his sister (Mrs. Leah Shetler and family) in Santa Monica, Cali- fornia. - M Mr. and Mrs. John Foster, Eldon street, returned home Monday after' spending a week in Sarnia with their son, Captain Clayton Foster. Mr. A. O. Sonley spent a recent holiday at St. Catharines and Port Colborne and while there enjoyed a boat trip from Port Colborne to Thorold. Mr. and Mrs. William Seabrook of Sarnia spent Tuesday with Mrs. Fred Seabrook. They had been at Owen Sound where they attended the funeral of Mr. Albert Sea- brook, a cousin of the late Mr. Fred Seabrook. Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Allemang and two children, Theresa and Brian, of Kitchener, Mrs. Alba Al- lemang and daughter, Betty and Mrs. Benson of Bridgeport were week -end guests with Mrs. Fred Seabrook, St. David's street. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Sillib ar- rived home after spending a week at Essex. While there they at- tended the wedding of Miss Aud- rey Maedel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Maedel.
