Wednesday of last week our
three cage teams journeyed by bus
to Clinton. Playing the role of
perfect visitors, we gave Clinton
three victories.
The girls and juniors were badly
"outclassed, losing 'to the tune of
25-8 and 39-16 `respectively. 'But
the seniors came up with their
second thriller. At half time we
led 17-12;, at the end of the third
quarter, 22-20; but in the final
eight minutes, we lost our star
guard, Don Sanderson. We fell
apart defensively, and were out-
scored 16-2, making the final read
36-24. , , Bobby Gardner was our
only consistent man, collecting 13
points.
A Win At Last
On Friday afternoon, Seaforth
came to G.C.I. andit was do or die
for both the seniors and the
juniors.
In the senior game, we started
strong and were leading 33-23 at
half time. Bob Gardner and my-
self were clicking with under -the -
basket passes and hand-offs and
-each hooped 14 points. However,
in the third quarter we *ere out-
scored 6-0 and our lead disappear-
ed in the final quarter. With
three minutes to go Seaforth led
44-42 and the throng of students
was cheering madly. Gardner,
sunk a foul shot, cutting their lead
-to one point. With only seconds
to go, Don Sanderson scored with
a, long set shot that won the game
45-44.
The juniors, smarting from their
defeat in Clinton, kept the pres
sure on from start to finish and
emerged with a 41-18 triumph.
Lorne Dougherty led the blue and
white attack with 18 points.
The girls, despite an early lead,
fell behind in the last half and
were beaten 19-12. The game was
generally dull but girls' rules do
not permit a wide open thriller.
The girls now have lost three
straight and are out of contention
for the league- title. However,
most of the girls are in third form
and are gaining valuable experi-
ence. Next season may be their
year.
Star of the Week --Jack Hicks,
the big junior guard. In the Sea -
forth game, he played the best de-
