Hugh Matheson, distinguished scholar and theologian, occurred at Toronto OH September '28, iu his 83rd year. A native of Kincardine 't'ownship, Bruce county, but with relatives in Ashfield ,Township, in this county, he graduated in law at Osgoode Hall, but never practised in that profession. Entering the ministry of the Presbyterian Church, he served in pastoral work for several years before receiving the appoint- ment of librailan at Knox College. ThIs post he held until 1925, when he Joined the flatted Church and was appointed to the faculty of Victoria College. He retired 18 .years agh. the was a recognized authority on church history and was also a Gaelic scholar of note.
