TORONTO. TRAIN TRIP
WAS ONCE A LUXURY
442+Travellers between Goderich and
Toronto are pretty .well used to
a fairly brief trip by •automobile
now. • For those without auto-
mobiles, however, the journey i►y
train is usually an arduous -and
inconvenient one. The trains aren't
exactly the, most luxurious afforded
by the railway companies. It
wasn't always thus, however. In
fact, it Would seem that one used
to be able to travel to or from
Toronto in grand style, by parlour
car with buffet facilities.
Probably the following exe c►t
from the tiles of the GOderic•h Star
of June 14, 1907, will serve to re-
fresh the memories of some of our
readers, who used to take the train
to the Queen City in the "good old
days":
"The changes affecting Goderich
in the new Grand -Trunk time tattle
'taking effect June Ill are as fol-
lows: New 'train will leave Gode-
rich at 0.00 a.m., with parlor ear
for Toronto. On the 2.50 p.m. train
from Goderich a buffet parlor ear
(serving meals a la carte) will he
run through to Goderich and will
have throggli- buffet parlor car and
coaches. The train arriving at
Goderich at 11.10 p.m. will have a
parlor ear from Toronto."
