Hearing of charges against Au -
drew Mitchell of Clinton was ad-
journed for two Weeks by Magis-
Mitchell was charged with connuou
assault, disorderly vonduct, and
wilfully causing damage to the -
Brown Derby cafe, on information
laid by the proprietor, Bruce Fleet,
also of Clinton.
'Fleet and his wife gave evideuce

annual Huron County Aehievement

provincial honors for completing 12
projects. ''Fifty-eight girls- received
certificates' for completing. ,two or
more ,projects.
More than 115 delegates attended
the \Vest Huron District anunal of
the Women's -Institutes the Wes-
ley-lWillis Church, Clinton, Thurs-
day of last week.
Miss Anna 1'. Lewis, Toronto,
director of the Ontario Department
of Agrieuittireis Wothen's Institute
branch, was guest, speaker.
Miss Lewis told the meinber's
enthusiasm is, one of the ibingS
needed to be put 'to greater force
institute work.
"There is Important wOrk to be -
done iu our community 'and lu the
world today- aud. sometimes one
becoines discouraged beeituse one
is one little person. But we must
remember that -we , together.• its
members of the lustitute rau do
much.
"The world needs more love,
peace, security, a new set of soeial
values and the live and a half
million women in the world who
are Woulen's Institute members can
do an endless amount to give these
needs to mankind."
Speaking on leadership in the
institutes, Miss Lewis said that
being a leader is no bed of roses
but theil is a tremendous spiritual
satisfaction gained froin it.
"Courage, Intelligence"
"It takes courage and intelli-
gence as ,'well as perserverence to
lead any organization," she said.
During a question- period -,----the
direetor answered querieS on vari-
ous topics such as short courges
and workshops offered by the de-
partment to branches.

Jerry Montgoinery, agricultural
'representative for Huron County,
presented the awards to winners
in the contest.
--At the communit centre, J•unOr
Institute members presented six de-
monstrations and displayed- nine
club exhibits. Miss Jean ,Scott,
home economist, was'. In charge,
assisted by Miss E. -1'. Emile and
Miss Lulu Row, both of the Wu -
men's Institute branch, Toronto.

cheque for $10 from the Salads
Tea Company for the completion of
a quilt (in the company's mutest),
which. was displayed at the Thurs-
day meeting. The quilt received
very favorable emollients from all
present, special, dote being made
of -the original pattern designed by
Mrs. Howard Cowan, a member of
the Kintall group. The quilt will
now be entered In the Louden nren

gested that a resolution could be
forwarded to the Canadian Nation-
al Exhibition suggesting a class for
W.I. quilts.
