STEWART—Alex Stewart of
Tacoma, Washington, passed
away suddenly early in Decem-
ber in his 85th year. He was a
son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Isaiah Stewart and was born
near Wingham. He is survived
by his wife; one. sister, Miss
Gertrude Stewart of Wainfleet
and a brother, Max in Madrid,
Spain; one grandson and two
granddaughters. He was pre-
deceased by a daughter, Elea-
nor, three sisters and one
brother.

Mrs. H. Browne
dies in hospital
KENNEDY—Mrs. Lezetta M.
(Johnnie) Kennedy died in To-
ronto. "Johnnie" Kennedy's
life, a life of loving and giv-
ing to a devoted family and a
host of friends, carne to a close
on December 21. She will be
long and tenderly remembered
by her husband, Harry B. Ken-
nedy Sr.; by her son, Marry B.
Kennedy Jr.; by her mother,
Mrs. Frederick Johnson, her
sister, Mrs. Frederick H. (Vel-
ma) Coates, both of Wingham;
and her brother, Frederick
Johnson of Toronto; as well as
by her four grandchildren,
Catherine Ann, Susan Eliza-
beth, Robert Andrew and John
Chisholm. Service was held
at Christ Church, Deer Park,
Toronto, at three o'clock on
Tuesday. Memorial donations
may be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society. Inquiries may
be directed to the Morley Bed-
ford Funeral Chapel, Toronto,

Funeral service was held
Wednesday, December 17, for
Mrs. Harry Browne of Wingham.
Rev. T. K. Hawthorn conducted
the two o'clock service and inter-
ment followed in Wingham
Cemetery. The R. A. Currie and
Son Feneral Home was in .charge
of arrangements.
Pallbearers were members of
Branch 180, Royal Canadian
Legion, Wingham. Kenzie Saxton
and Kenneth Saxton carried
floral tributes.
Mrs. Brown passed away in the
Wingham and District Hospital
on Monday, December 15. She
was in her 90th year.
Mrs. Brown was the former
Gertrude Alice Lincoln and was
born October 11, 1886, in Norwich,
Norfolk County, England. She
came to this country and the
Wingham area in 1912. She was a
member of St. Paul's Anglican
Church and a life member of the
Ladies' Auxiliary to the Royal
Canadian Legion, Wingham
Branch 180.
Surviving are one daughter,
Mrs. Jack (Ruby) MacGibbon of
Guelph; three sons, Barney of
Willowdale, Harry of Wingham
and Lance of Kitchener ; four
• grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren. Also surviving is
one sister, Mrs. Herbert (Ellen)
Windscheffel of Norwich, Nor-
folk, England. She ' was pre-
deceased by her husband in 1966.
Died at 67.

Mrs. Margaret Rintoul, 67,
widow of the late Chester Rintoul,
formerly of Brussels, died on
Wednesday, December 3, at Sea -
forth Community Hospital after a
lengthy illness.
The former Margaret Lauretta
Pollard she was the daughter of
Edward James Pollard of Brus-
sels and the late Margaret Pol-
lard. She was predeceased by her
husband and one sister, Mrs. L.
Braddick of Vancouver.
Surviving, besides her father,
are two daughters, Mrs. Douglas
(Helen) Stewart of Seaforth and
Mrs. William (Wanda) Scott of
Essex; one sister, Mrs. Mervin
(Freda) Pipe of Brussels, and six
grandchildren.
The late Mrs. Rintoul rested at
the Whitney-Ribey Funeral
Home where funeral and com-
mittal services were held Satur-
day, December 6. Rev. D. G. Nel-
son officiated and interment fol-
lowed in Wingham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Pipe,
Brussels, Jack Coultes, Blyth,
Lloyd Scott, Simcoe, Ross Bott-
ger ,and Ernest Mount of Cam-
bridge, George Hayes of Sea -
forth.
