Interesting meeting is

Intended for last week
• BELMORE — Special guests at
the, December meeting of the
Women's Institute included the 4-
H Club girls, their mothers and
leaders.
Belmore 1 Club had set up an
attractive display, "Holiday
Bread for Christmas". Vicki
Jeffray and Corey Wallace com-
mented on these various
European sweet breads and
urged those present to try some
of their recipes to add variety to
the Christmas festivities.
Mrs. Don MacAdam and Mrs.
Lorne Fischer led this club.
Club II had an equally attract-
ive and appetizing display of rolls
made from basic white bread
dough. Cathy Underwood ex-
plained the techniques, used in
making these rolls of various
shapes and sizes.
Mrs. Stanley Hays and Miss
Myra Dane directed Club II.
All members of Club III acted
out their skit, as they sampled
mother's freshly -baked bread,
with each adding her own favor-
ite spread.
Members participating were
Janice Kamrath, Delphine Kam-
rath, Diane Kieffer, Nancy
Kieffer, Carol Kieffer, Marilyn
Kieffer, Angela Detzler, Doreen
Nickel, Jacqueline Dustow,
Pauline Dustow and Twyla Dick-
son.
Mrs. Ken Dickson and Mrs.
Paul Moffat were the leaders of
Club III. '
Mrs. Stanley Hays, convener,
then chaired the meeting and
called in Mrs. Elmer Jeffray as
the 441 Club leaders of 1975 were
presented with small tokens in
appreciation for their capable
leadership with the girls.
Mrs. Edwin Hofmann demon-
strated the making of a most
attractive centrepiece, in keep-
ing.with Advent, a tradition of
*Switzerland, now used in her
Canadian home.
According to the custom, one
candle is lit on the fourth Sunday
before Christmas, theri two
candles on the following Sunday
on the third Sunday of Advent
three candles are lighted and by
the fourth Sundll four candles
are aglow.
Mrs. Carl Douglas then shared
her pictures and experiences on a
recent trip to Spain.
The beautiful handicrafts also
added to a most enjoyable
imaginary journey for all
present.
HAVE YOURSELF A
MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS
But keep it safe from the fire
dangers of the season. Keep the
tree fresh and green by standing
it in water throughout its stay
indoors. Keep cigarettes and
matches at a safe distance.
Switch the tree lights off at bed-
time and before leaving home,
and never decorate a tree with
candles.
Christmas should be a happy
time for children. Yet, for many
Christmas is a time of sadness.
Perhaps it's because their
dreams haven't come true. They
feel that maybe Christmas is only
for others, not for them. But their
dream can come true for The
Salvation Army, with your help,
can bring a measure of happiness
to less fortunate children.
Remember, the joy that. we give
to others is the joy that comes
back to us.
