HOLLYWOOD HOTLINE Marie Osmond turns sweet 16 By NANCY ANDERSON HOLLYWOOD - Pretty Marie Osmond has turned 16, so now she can not only drive a car but date. The only girl in a family of Osmond Brothers, Marie has led so sheltered a life that it's a safe bet that on the day she was sweet sixteen, she'd never been kissed. Well, 'kissed, maybe, but not really kissed, if you know what I mean. However, she says she hasn't objected in the least to the restrictions she's en- dured, because she's had such fun with her family. The day after her birthday, she still hadn't had that first date, so she was asked what she was planning for the oc- casion. "That would be up to the boy, wouldn't it?" Marie asked demurely. "But isn't there some place you've been hoping you could go on your very first date?" "Not really," said Marie. "Do you know with whom you'll have your first date?" Marie indicated that she didn't. She was more precise about her plans for driving a car. She and brother Donny, a year older, were going to get their drivers' licenses within the week. They may also get their own television series, pro- vided the special in which they starred Nov. 16 for ABC- TV was a big enough hit. "But it won't just be our se- ries," Donny said. "The en- tire family will be involved." Meanwhile the Osmonds en masse are planning to make a movie early next year; though they aren't yet ready to announce the title, the re- leasing agency or other de- tails. The Osmonds, Marie and Donny c10im, will remain in- separable, because their reli- gion, Mormonism, holds them together. Did any of them ever MARIE OSMOND .. "Yes," Marie, suddenly as- sertive, said. "We all went through questioning periods. Our parents didn't try to force our religion on us. "But each of us, through our own study, became con- vinced of the truth of our faith." Since a perfectly happy teen-ager is as rare as a two - headed calf, one looks for a chink In Marie's cocoon of contentment, but none can be found. For instance, when she's asked whether she misses not having a sister, she won't even admit to a lack in that department. "My mother is like a sister to me," she said. Doesn't she have any bad habits, one wonders. Isn't there some temptation to which she's occasionally suc- coinbed. ' "Well, yes," Marie ad- mited, "I am tempted by clothes.
