Procter was leader for the
Christmas meeting • of the after-
noon unit of the United Church
Women, held in the church base-
ment. The meeting opened by
singing "It qame Upon the Mid-
night Clear"t.
Mrs. Procter gave a short talk,
/asking that thegroup think on the
many who would not be home for
Christmas, reminding each to let
the birth jof Jesus come into her
home and remeinber the true
•spirit of that day.
Mrs. maid Armstrong gave
the Bible reading, telling the
story of the shepherds. "Silent
Night" was sung. Different mem-
bers then lit candles, reading
short verses on the true meaning
of Christmas in homes and
churches and speaking of fami-
lies in the Middle East.
Mrs. Cecil Coultes took the
study showing by cards on the
fannelgraph the meaning of the
gift of the Wise Men. Gold today
might be the bounty with which
we in Canada trust; Frankin-
cense — our thoughts and pray-
ers must be put into action to
carry out God's will; Myrrh could
be• the gifts of faith, love and
confidence to believe in God our
Father.

gation participated with the
Sundak School, December 14
" when White Gift Sunday was
celebrated in Knox United
Church. Members of the Sunday
School assisted in the service. A
children's . choir rendered the
.anthem, "Rocking Carol".
Karen' Coultes and Grant Gnay
were in charge of the Christmas
scripture readings. The White
Envelope contributions are to
support a foster child in Bali,
Indonesia, who was adopted in
1974 by the school.
George Procter, superinten-
dent, gave a splendid address
relating the location of Bali,
family information, agficulture
' operations, home conditions, and
the origin of "The Foster Parent
Plan". He stated that the plan
began in Spain, when a destitute
father pinned a note tp his little
son asking that he be cared for by
his finder.

Joanne Coultes.

The West Wawanosh ToWnship
Council held its regular meeting
Tuesday, Dec. 2. By-law 10-1975
on the Gaunt Municipal Drain
was given third reading and
passed on the motion of Coun-
cillors Leo Foran and Joseph
Hickey. Council also accepted a
petition for drainage signed by
W. Redmond and other members
of the petitioning group.
Road accounts of $6,890.10 and
general accounts totalling
$68,728.75 were approved for pay-
ment. The general accaunts in-
cluded payment of the Huron
County Board of Education levy
of $34,679.30 and the Huron
County requisition of $20,472.32.
Damage slight
in collision
The Wingham Police Depart-
ment reported one minor vehicle
colliSion last week. Larry D.
Robinson of Blyth and Ronald R.
Huffman of 300 Minnie St., Wing -
ham, were involved in a collision
last Wednesday when a truck
driven by Mr. Robinson struck
Mr. Huffman's vehicle as it was
turning into the Canadian Tire
parking lot. Damage was esti-
mated at $400.

Word was received here by
Mrs. Orville Tiffin that her sister,
Sidney, Mrs. Gordon Jamieson of
Goderich, had suffered a heart
attack while attending the
wedding of her nephew, Doug
Splan. She was taken by ambu-
lance to Goderich Hospital. The
community wishes her a speedy
recovery.

The community on Saturday
was sorry to learn of the car acci-
dent involving Mr. and Mrs. Jim
de Boer and Aldon Purdon of
Wingham. No one had to be
hospitalized for any length of
time.
On Friday, Clare Milligan
received first prize for her essay
from the Lucknow Legion on
"The Day to Remember." Joan
Pickard received third prize
from the Legion for the poem she
subnlitted. .Congratulations,
Candlelight service is being
held next Sunday, December 21.
The choir is busy preparing for
this Ammal Service under the
direction of Gordon Leggatt to be
broadcast over CKNX. Solos to be
heard will be by Mrs. Cathy Gib-
son and Mrs. Sinclair Wardrop
with Mrs. Don Ress, organist.
The choir members are from the
United Church, Langside and
Chalmers. The ministers in-
volved are Rev. Wilena Brown
and Bev Kay, student at Knox.
The audience is asked to be
seated by 7:55 at the front ,of
Chalmers Church. Lunch will be
served in the basement after the
service.

Wingham guests
WROXETER — The Friend-
ship Unit of the United Church
travelled to Wingham to the
home of Mrs. Winnifred Lock-
wood for the December meeting;
Ten members, the hostess and
Rev. and Mrs. Wesley Ball sat
down to a delicious turkey dinner.
The president, Mrs. Archie
Miller, presided for the meeting
and gave some thoughts on
Christmas. Mrs. James Sander-
son read the scripture from Luke
2:8-20. A moment of silence in
remembrance of one of the mem-
bers was observed.
Several Christmas carols were
sung. Rev. pall gave a Christmas
message speaking of t.he Magi as
men of science Who came from
Persia, and quoting some of
Jesus' chosen words, "Fear not,
and let not your heart be trou-
bled. We have joy in our hearts
because God loves us."
The roll call brought many
thoughts of Christmas.
Mrs. Stewart Higgins gave the
financial report. The meeting
closed by repeating the Mizpah
benediction in unison.

WROXETER — Family Sun-
day and White Gift Day was
well attended on December 14 In
Wroxeter United Church' with
Rev. Wesley Ball taking as his
theme, "The One Room School-
house", which he delivered in his
usual interesting manner. Mrs.
Ron McMichael, president of the
Sunday School gave the lesson:
The Christmas Gospel, Luke 2: 1-
20.
Mrs. Ed• win Martin, organist
and our chbir leader led' the
congregation in the singing of
Christmas carols during the ser-
vice. The guests, "The Lockie
Family", with Mr. Lockie on
guitar, Mrs. Lockie on piano and
Stephen, Ron, Brent and Shelley
singing "Dust on the Bible" and
much enjoyed.
Rev. Ball received two infants,
Kelly Lynne, daughter of Mr. and
Dirs. Robert Bradshaw and
Angela Michelle, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Gary Chambers, into
the church by baptism.
SHEILA BURKE models her beak for her part as Mother
Goose during preparations at the Wingham Public School
for the Wingham Santa Claus parade. Mother Goose and her
rhyme characters will adorn the school float this ,SaturdaY.

FORDWICH The December
meeting of the Anglican Chuich
Women of Trinity Church was
held in the Sunday School rooms
where a turkey dinner at 7 o'clock
preceded the meeting, followed
by a half hour of carol singing.
The president, Mrs. J. W.
Daunt opened the meeting with
prayer. The devotions, "Chris-
tians Reclaim Christmas"
were taken by Mrs. W. Hargrave
and Mrs. Daunt and all joined in
singing the hymn, "Away in a
Manger". Members answered
the roll call with a Christmas
reading and gifts for the patients
in the nursing home at Fordwich.
Christmas cards were signed to
be sent to the sick and shut-ins.

Third Advent Sun.
BLUEVALE — Mrs. Jack
Nicholson, representing the
United Church Women, lit the
third candle for the Advent sea-
• son at the morning service in the
United Church.
Rev. Wilena Brown, in her ser-
mon, said that the story of the
Baby born in a manger was a
simple one but—do we realize
how significant that event was?
"This .season reminds us • about
God's love and willingness to
interact with human beings," she
said. The young people's choir
sang "Let's have an Old -Fa,
shioned Christmas".
-On December 21, service will
be at the usual morning hour and
the Messengers will meet in the
Sunday School rooms for a
Christmas party. At 9 p.m. there
will be a candlelight service with
carol singing • and communion.
School Fair

BELGRAVE — The annual
meeting of the Belgrave, Blyth
and Brussels School Fair was
held on December 4th at Bel -
grave. It was decided that Sep-
tember 15, 1976 be the date for the
next fair.
Mrs. Les Bolt conducted the
election of officers and directors
for the coming year. There was
no change in the officers elected.
The following were elected to
be new directors: Mrs. George
Chettleburgh for East Wawanosh
Township; Howard Martin for
Brussels and Mrs. Jack Coultes.
Mrs. Rev. Wittich, Mrs. Mary
Wightman for Blyth.
Those to sell advertising
remain unchanged, with the
exception of Wingham, where
Bob Taylor and Ross Higgins will
replace William Coultes and Jack
Higgins.
Mrs. John Gnay and Ross
Procter will head committees for
the revising of the prize list.
Their reports will be read at the
January meeting.

FOFtDWICH — The afternoon
unit of the United Church Women
held its Christmas meeting in the
Sunday §chool rooms on Thurs-
day, commencing with a hot
turkey dinner.
After the dinner Mrs. Bruce
Agla conducted a brief business
meeting. The white gift money
will be sent to the Fred Victor
Mission in Toronto this year. The
roll call, a legend or Christmas,
was answered by 30 members.
The program was a panto-
mime, "Watchman, Tell Us of the
Night", the story of Christmas in
scripture and song. The narrator
was Mrs. Wray Cooper; pianist,
Miss Violet Beswetherick; choir,
Miss McElwain, Mrs. Jack Wil-
son, Mrs. Ken Graham and Mrs.
William Wilson; watchman, Mrs.
Crosby Sotheran; traveller, Mrs.
Parker Eurig ; Mary, Mrs. Bert
Wylie; Joseph, Mrs. Bruce Agla ;
shepherds, Mrs. A. Stinson, Mrs.
