Santa Claus
Bluevale WI
- There was standing room only
last Friday evening when Santa
Claus came to the Bluevale
Community Hall. The jolly
bearded guest paid a visit to
distribute candy to children
toward the end of the Bluevale
Women's Institute annual Christ-
mas concert.
The concert opened in the
Christmas spirit with carol sing-
ing by the institute members and
the audience with Mrs. Carl

and accordion act followed with
participation by Brian Jeffray
and Dewayne and David Golley.
The third presentation on the pro-
gram was a series of recitations
by Ian Johnston, Daryl Baswick,
Greg Moffatt, Jeff Tolton, Mar-
jorie Campbell and Juanita Boon-
stra, followed by the St. Andrew's
Bell Ringers of Wingham under
the leadership of Gordon Leggatt.
The Bluevale 4-H Club pre-
sented the "Little Red Hen" with,
participation by Barb Chambers
as the hen, Vicki East as the cat,
Louise Stamper as the dog, Helen
Ortlieb as the fox, and chickens
Vieki Steckley, Valerie Peel,
Donna Steckley and Tracy
Jarvis. Shirley Nicholson,
Murray De Vos, Brent bay,
Marie DeVos and gvelyn
Stamper presented 'a skit , titled
!".Gettig EVen with Sister's,
fibaux„.
• Audience participation was the
feature of a skit called "Saga of
the Old West" with Mrs. Jim
Armstrong as commentator. Also
taking part were: Colleen
Robertson, George 'Fischer,
ikllan Campbell, Donald Street,
Bert Garniss, Keith Moffatt, 'Jim
Armstrong, Harvey Timm, Jim
Johnston, Carl Johnston, -1sabelle
Wheeler and Bill Peacock.
Karen Armstrong staged a
"Sword Dance" and the Bluevale
Young . People's Union enter-
tained with two presentations by
Elizabeth Armstrong, Susan
Adams and John Underwood.
The concert's final number was
the familiar story "Twos the
Night before Christmas" acted
out by the W.I. members with
Mrs. Donald Street as commen-
tator.
FORDWICH STAFF
HOLDS PARTY
The annual Christmas party of
the staff of Fordwich Nursing
Home was held Monday, Dec. 8.
A turkey dinner with all the trim-
mings was served by Fordwich
Anglican Church ladies in the
church basement.
The party returned to the
lounge of the Nursing Home to
meet Santa and enjoy some cards
and games.

the library. Boys and girls, you

Claus at the library and one week

Judy by Gerold Frank
Unlike previous biographies of
Judy Garland, Mr. Frank has had

tional involvement it uproots not
only his own life but Fletcher's
too.
What's new at
Huronview?
The annual Christmas. Fair
sponsored by the Auxiliary was
held in the auditorium on Monday
afternoon. The residents had an
opportunity to choose from. the
tables of gifts that had been
donated this year by groups from
the Clinton area and the ladies
served tea in the craft room.
The Junior and Senior rhythm
bands from the Goderich
Phsychiatric Hospital directed
by Gordon Harrison entertained
on Family Night. The Junior
Band played and sang several
Christmas numbers along • with
vocal solos, duets and instru-
mentals. Shorty Munro was
emcee for the Variety program
provided by the Senior Band and
Sarah Carter thanked the enter-
tainers on behalf of the residents.
Members of the Londesboro
Women's Institute were hosts.for
the December birthday party on
Wednesday afternoon , with 28
celebrants receiving gifts from
the ladies. Mrs. Jessie Tebbutt
was emcee for the program of
vocal, solos by Victor. FoxitPlanol
duets by Gale Fear and Gene-
vieve Allin; mouth Organ and
guitar selections by Bert Shob-
brook and a sing -a -long of Christ-
mas music. Miss Mary Turner
who is celebrating her 99th birth-
day on December 11th extended
the appreciation of the residents
to all those who had helped with
the party.
Mrs. Shirley, Prouty who leads
the weekly Bible study had a
special Christmas service this
week with musical numbers by
Bruce Cann, Mrs.‘ Henderson,
Dorothy Prouty and Susan Cann
accompanied at the organ by
Leila Finkbeiner, Mr. Milford
and Edward Prouty assisted with
the devotional period and each of
the residents were presented with
a corsage by Mrs. Prouty.
Seventh win
for Bantams
The Wingham Bantams won
their seventh straight game last
Friday night with a 7-3 victory
over Palmerston. Top scorers for
Wingham were Doug Merkley
with two goals and an assist and
Mike Beattie with two goals.
Singles went to Tom Remington,
Paul Foxton and Mark Pass-
more.
The Bantams, coached by Doug
Neil and managed by Ted Ahara,
look like a well-balanced, strong
club that could go a long way. It
has three good forward lines:
Herb Kenyon centres a line with
Mike Beattie and Doug Merkley;
Paul Foxton is on a line between
Rick MacLennan and Mark Pass-
more; and the third line is made
up of Grant Gnay, Scott McGre-
gor and Jeff MacLaurin. A solid
defence .core has been formed
with Larry Milosovic (captain),
Ed Haines, Tom Remington,
Keith Cameron. Rick Deichert
and Doug Taylor share the goal-
tending duties.
This week they travel to Arthur
for a game on Thursday, and play
before the home town crowd here
on Friday at 7 p.m. against
Durham. Durham has a smooth,
fast skating team and this will be
a real test for the local lads. With
the Midgets playing after the
Bantam game, the evening prd-
mises to be a good night of
hockey.
IGA wins 5 to 3

In the first Pee -Wee -Bantam
game last week, IGA squeaked
out a 5-3 victory over Stainton's.
Paul Cerson with two and Blair
Bushel, Gary Adam and Murray
Gardner with one each took care
of the scoring for IGA. Bill Le
Van scored two and Ken Hopper
got one for Staintores. •
In the'second game of the week,
Marks' skated to .a 7-3 victory
over a short-handed B and E
Leasing.- Brent Foxton was the
big gun for Marks', scoring the
hat trick, while Tim Bain picked
up two goals and Tim Henderson
and Steve McKay notched one
each. Kevin Tervit, Kevin Net-
terfield and Bruce McIntyre
replied for B and E Leasing.

Linda Henderson was the star
for the Senior 'Juniors girls with a
high single of 208 and high double
of 347. David Nesbitt was boys'
high single with 181. Blair Man-
sell was the high double of 305 and
scored the only other high game
of 173. Jo Marie McCormick re-
ceived her "100 Pins over Aver-
age" badge for a score of 263.
The Big Macs broke the tie to
jump intothe lead with 37 points,
followed by the Submarines with
35 and the French Friw,sizaling
at 27. The Big Boys stayed at 25,
with the Foodongs at 22 and the
Red Hots with 19.
Peggy. Tervit was the Seniors'
star with a 269 score that cap-
tured the girls' high single and
won her a "100 Pins over Aver-
age" badge. Brenda Foxton was
high triple with 590. Boys' high
single with 233 was Ken Tervit,
while Rick MacLennan was high
triple at 556. Other high scores
were: Brenda Foxton, 215; Rick
MacLennan, 214; Jay Mac-
Laurin, 220.
The Clue Klux Clan stayed on
top in team play with 58, folted
distantly by the Crusaders ith
